Wallace is a small historic city in the Panhandle region of the U.S. state of Idaho and the county seat of Shoshone County in the Silver Valley mining district. Founded in 1884, Wallace sits alongside the South Fork of the Coeur d'Alene River (and Interstate 90), approximately 2,728 feet (831 m) above sea level. The town's population was 784 at the 2010 census.

We booked the ultimate package with 9 ziplines for a family of four (two adults, a 12 yr old and a 14 yr old). We all had a blast! My kids and I had zipped before, but my husband hadn't. It was so much fun. The weather was weird that day - we started in the ran and ended with sun. Having rain pelt you in the face while ziplining wasn't the greatest fun, but we just ignored it...and then it ended, yay!
The staff are fantastic. I can't remember the names of our guides, but we had two of them. The guy was hysterical...really funny. But, even with all the joking, we always felt safe. The owner was up on the hill with us and helped as well. And towards the end of the ziplining they offer you some free beverages. My kids got juice. My husband and I had a beer :).
The scenery when ziplining was just gorgeous. What a great way to see Wallace and the mountains of Idaho! I would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting this area!

What can you say about this treasure. It is an amazing experience to ride a mountain bike through defunct train tunnels. This approximately 18 mile ride is almost completely downhill. So don't shy away thinking it is strenuous. The scenery is as you would expect - breathtaking. For most of the 18 miles there are no vehicles on the dirt road just bikes.
When you go through the tunnel it is cold and wet. The tunnel drips from moisture and the air is very cool even if its hot out. So make sure to bring a jacket or sweatshirt. Also bring water, food, etc. for the day. There is nowhere to buy it on the route.
TIPS AND TRICKS: First, you have to rent bikes from a ski resort a few miles away. They will rent you a bike rack but I highly recommend you just pay the extra $20 for our 4 bikes and they will drive them down for you. Best of all when you are done for the day you just drop them off where you started from and you are on your way. No lugging them back the many miles to the ski resort. Make reservations ahead of time to avoid losing out on being able to go. But remember there are no refunds. Weather can be an issue.

We loved this hike lots of spots with great river access. Dog friendly or dog was able to be off-leash the whole time and we saw many other dogs off leash there. Great hike which climbs not to high very fast. A great hike with spots to cool off!

A must visit if you have time. Hopper would have paired this town. Classic buildings with more antique shops than any or you could buy a stuffed animal and gun at the same time. A gem of a place. Complete time warp including the Brothel museum well worth a visit too.

Absolutely loved this little museum. The tourist receptionist was very keen on sharing information and explaining some of the large photographs on the wall. You have to watch the short video about the area and the mining in the past and present. Very informative. You can tour around the museum to see different mining equipment, artifacts and lots of photos. The admission was $3.00 per person and you can spend a good hour or two looking around. You can purchase books about the area also. A definite must if you visit Wallace.

We are the Northern Pacific Railroad Museum and Gift Shop. Located in downtown Wallace, Idaho, the NP Depot offers tours April 15th-October 15th, 7 days a week 9am to 5pm.

This museum is the perfect place to jump start your introduction to the very historic town of Wallace, Idaho. Some of the displays just knocked our socks off. The docents are friendly, knowledgable & willing to answer any questions a visitor might have. Wallace. Who knew? The gift shop is top notch and offers both railroad/train items as well as beautiful objects from local artists (Indy's earrings are gorgeous) and books of local interest, all reasonably priced and great value. Their hours are 9-5 during the week and you will not be thrown out at 5:00 ... once you're in, you're in.
Just one of the nicest bunch of people anywhere.

They offer a variety of beers in several sizes as well as samplers. Prices are very decent when compared to other establishments nearby. One female staff member was eager to wait on us but didn't appear to want bothered providing additional info on their offerings I was told read the descriptions. The male staff member was much more helpful and pleasant. An ok brewery but not outstanding.

While living in the northwest for 30 yrs, I decided I'd like to experience one of north Idaho's gems, a The Hiawatha Trail. It's 15 miles of groomed old Milwaukee railroad bed. It has a 1.6 percent downhill
grade and 9 tunnels and 7 tressels .
The labor day weekend happens to land on my birthday this yr so I made resv. A month ago and invited my kids and my family to join in. This weekend turned out to be raining and windy but it wasn't going to stop us, the beginning of the trail you start out with a 1.7 mile long tunnel to go thru which was pretty exciting. Once thru it you head down hill at a slow pace and over many 120 to 220 foot tall tressels and very senic. It took us about 4 hours to complete and took lots of picts. Very fun and highly recommend this very outdoorsy adventure.

The Oasis Bordello Museum is a former operating bordello in the historic mining town of Wallace Idaho. It is preserved exactly as it was left when it had to close it's doors in 1988 We are open for our 23'rd operating season from 10 AM to 5 PM daily with guided tours on the half hour for $5 per person. This place is just as the women left it to avoid a raid. Until very recently, prostitution was openly practiced with the complicit approval of the local sheriff and police. The madams were an important part of the community.
