Military Ridge State Trail

Forty marked, mostly flat, miles of trail out of Badger Praire County Park, about 10-minutes south of Madison.

I had to stop running in 2012 as a result of a bad knee. This trail with its soft surface enabled me to start running two years ago. Besides that, I often use the bike trail from Verona to Mt. Horeb through the woods and especially in the evening it is magical! Surely this trail is a gift to the Madison, Verona, Mt.Horab, Fitchburg, Dodgeville .... community. I owe so much to this trail.

Wisconsin Brewing Company

It all started with brothers Carl and Mark Nolen and Brewmaster Kirby Nelson. Three Wisconsin born-and-raised regular guys who share a passion for the Badger State - its friendly people, bountiful resources, rich brewing heritage - and the idea that drawing on all of the above is the key to creating some really awesome beer. Our Tap Room is open Tues.- Sun. and our Backyard Bar and Patio overlook a 9-acre pond. We offer tours on weekends. We have free, outdoor concerts every Friday night from May through Sept, and other beer-forward events throughout the year. Our brewery is family-friendly. Leashed dogs are welcome all days but Fridays and during two events: Depth Charge and Dueling Pianos. We serve twelve of our craft beers, three varieties of gluten-free RE: FRESH Radler, sodas and water. Per state law, wine, hard alcohol and other beer brands are not served and cannot be carried in. We do not offer food service, but outside food (carry in/delivery) is welcome.

Fun place to hang out on nice weather conditions outside on their spacious patio. Lots of fun nights with live music, dueling pianos, and 80’s nights. Family friendly or adult get togethers. Can carry in food for music nights. Many great beers brewed here. Try the sample flight or a couple of cold ones inside in the tap room or outside. Friendly staff. Short tour highlights their technology and brewing equipment.

My friends and I were hesitant to head out to the suburbs, but we wanted to check out the live music at this place. We were pleasantly surprised. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere nice. I was impressed by the large selection of wines made with Wisconsin grapes. I, not normally being a wine drinker, didn't know there were so many Wisconsin grapes. The owner was working on this night and explained to us about the different types of grapes in relation to the wines. Although we didn't eat food, I took a look at their charcuterie board menu and saw that they feature many high-quality Wisconsin cheeses and meats. They also have some great local chocolates and good WI beers on tap for any beer drinkers out there! This is definitely a good place to stop by if you want to try some quality Wisconsin products and also experience some of the best local music that the Madison area has to offer.
