This place is a 2-minute walk from the salt factory on Miyagi Island, to which you can get from Okinawa through a bridge. The factory itself is worth a visit by the way; otherwise, park your car at their lot and follow the signs to get to the edge of the cliff.
There were no signs in English as far as I remember, but it's easy enough to find as there is nothing much on the island, and it's not hard to figure out which ones are showing the way to salt factory... As soon as you are there, the walk is clearly visible from the parking lot.

Nakagusuku Castle is visible evidence of the Ryukyu kingdom and is a perfect reflection of that period of time in Okinawa’s history. The natural rocks and the land surrounding the castle are in perfect harmony with the curving walls, this amazing feat allows us to appreciate the masonry skills of this ancient time.
This place has breathtaking views and a great atmosphere. It's a bit off the beaten path so accessing it by public transportation is a bit tricky and time-consuming but it's well worth it.
What made this visit absolutely memorable was the visit to the hotel ruins just next to the castle. It says it's forbidden to access the hotel but go for it! it's not like in the west where these places are full of junkies and rubbish, here you'll have the feeling of being in a ghost-town or a haunted house.

Nice little beach. Reservable tables, BBQ, basketball courts, rentable canoes, outdoor cafe, volleyball and play area for the kids. Great for a Sunday out with friends or family. Or just to relax, splash and people-watch.
Coin showers and lockers, western toilets and outdoor foot wash. Netted swimming area enforced. Beach opens at 9am.

Welcome To Southeast Botanical Gardens !we Hope Have A Great Healing Day.
We enjoyed wandering and the Christmas lights in the Botanical Gardens. However, because it was dark, we did not really get to experience the Gardens. The lights were fun, and there were food trucks and snack options as well. At 7:30 pm there were fireworks as well. A fun way to spend Christmas evening.

This is a very nice beach and we stayed in the hotel directly next to it. Since it was quite hot during our stay, there were not so many people at the beach. It felt very safe with a life guard in charge during the day. It was beautiful with clean beach and clear water. The only thing we did not like is the fact that the actual water area is very small. You are not allowed to go in deeper and actually swim as you are able to stand everywhere in the marked area.

This park is easy to get to. It has 3 different access points. Easy for a quick snorkel since to rocks have lots of bright fish and the water is so clear. Our son surfed for the first time. It was a long paddle out and back to where the surf was breaking. The waves were small but a good spot to learn. Lots of paddle boarding and divers I. The area too.

To manage expectations, this is a castle ruin, so please done expect a refurbished castle like Shuri. There is a little building next to the road that is at the bottom of the hill where to ruins are. There are a clue artifacts and small models of what the castle would have looked like. Then you can start the trek up the hill to the ruins. I would only do this on a clear sunny day. The steps could be slick. There are a few small placards with tidbits of information. You pretty much just walk read some things, enjoy the view and then walk back down. Still worth it.

I really do not know why they built such a big mall in Okinawa, but thanks to them I have destination to go to during the evening as I am not a fan of early bed time.
Also thanks to my wife 'pestering' me to rent a car while in Okinawa, I am able to visit this Rycom and leave till it closing time.
This mall is huge, new and definitely you need hours to walk around just windows shopping. The food court is big and vast selection of food, decent pricing too.
This mall got a full size supermarket , I get my refill of snacks, refreshment, candy, band aid and others... The reason why I am so happy in here is because in Okinawa is very different from Tokyo, Osaka or other main city in Japan where you see dozens of convenience store & pharmacy on one city block.
Of course the lady can shop here for hours....hahaa...
Plus the fact I am staying at one of the secluded resort hotel, therefore I am feel relieve where all the convenience I can get under one roof
Don't worry about the car park , this mall car park is enormous & FREE ...lol

A little out of the way for me but I liked this castle a lot. There were almost no other people there so it was nice to explore in peace and quiet.

It's a family oriented small beach nestled between the Vessel Hotel and Monpa. It's also accessible from the American Village. There's a lifeguard on watch and the swimming area is cordoned by a net to keep Jellyfish out . There also a concrete theatre style Seating area facing the sea and some tents for barbecues/party. Lots of vending machines around for hydration including alcoholic beverages. Though we never went for a swim, we did walk a lot especially in the afternoon when the sun is almost down. Sunsets are amazing and the Seawalk gets you to Araha beach on the South Side and to The Hilton the North Side. We truly enjoyed our time there. The Japanese in the Island are truly friendly and engaging! There was not a single local on our walks in this park that didn't Nod nor smile nor say Konnichiwa to us. We are grateful for the experience .
