You can rent the pavilions. The sides can be closed in the winter. The Goodyear blimp is docked right next to the park. This is one of the great legacies of Goodyear, and it's wonderful that the former employee-only park is now available to everyone as a state park.

Has to order and pay for food and wine from the front of the winery. It's very inconvenient for those who have several questions because others are waiting in line or if you would like to add on additional items. Several seating options inside and outside. Had options to purchase beer or wine but have to stand in seperate lines to order. Probably will return but not at the top of my list.

There is a big grocery store, clothing stores, a book store, hardware and home items, electronics, office products, and several good restaurants. Also, a movie theater and a Walmart are adjoining the strip, if not technically in it. It's as good as going downtown!

We go there at least once a week.

I hike or walk the trails here regularly. They have bridle, bike and walking trails. They walking trails range from wide open gravel paths, wooden boardwalks and narrow hiking trails. This a is place of calmnes, beauty and tranquility, as one would expect in the woods. I only wish I could hike to a lookout spot, but we are in NE Ohio. There is also a nature center that is great for hands on learning and exploring for kids. Our last hike we took the dogs and we saw deer and a big white owl.

Akron Zoo

Reviewed By Ecospan - Cincinnati, Ohio

When purchasing admission, mention if you are a member at another zoo. Depending upon which zoo, you could be offered discount admission. We are members of the Cincinnati Zoo and did receive a small discount.

Akron Zoo was tidy and quaint. It took us about 2 hours to see the entire zoo at a leisurely pace. It was a chilly winter day, and there were not a great number of guests, or visible zoo employees. After admission, we only encountered one other employee who informed us of closing time and asked us to leave.

Favorite exhibits included the penguins, the otter, the jellyfish, the Caybara, and the songbirds. We saw the bears and wolf, which was nice, but they were resting while we were there.

I know that it is winter, but water for a few of the displays looked artificially green and very dirty/mucky. We are hoping that a cleaning is coming up soon. Interaction with zoo staff/volunteers is what we are used to at the Cincinnati Zoo, and that does not seem to be the case at all at the Akron Zoo. Overall, a nice but limited stroll for animal enthusiasts. If this review was helpful to you, please let Trip Advisor know by clicking the like button. Thank You!
