This is a small site, but filled with history and some stunning colors. Also, the Museo Cao is worth the visit. Her burial site was found here and the artifacts are in the museum, as are a wealth of others from the site.¡Thank you for your visit! Our ship stopped in Salaverry, and it was about a 30 minute taxi ride to get here... then waiting maybe 15 minutes for the English tour to start, then maybe a 45 minute tour. Very worthwhile. Some people won't be able to navigate the steps to get there, but once there, it's not too difficult.

This was a fantastic show for anyone who loves/likes/has an interest in horses. The place is very basic but there was no need for anything that was not there. It was quite a short show but you learnt a lot about the horses and the local dances. It was great to see the dancers dance with horses. The guys who own/run it were very kind and helpful. They booked us a taxi as it is quite far out from the town. It was a shame that there were only 3 paying audience there (us included) as the show deserves a much bigger audience but the performers and horses performed as if it was a full house. There are 2 shows a day so maybe the later one was busier and it was midweek.

Another not to be missed site in the Trujillo area. It is a UNESCO space. Archaeologists still working, but beautiful carvings exposed. This pre-Inca Moche cultural site has quite a bit of restoration....to much, but was done when this was in vogue.

Absolutely worth a visit. 10sol per person. Had guide first time, second time had leaflet bought just before entering for 5soles. Included what you needed to know. Went early at 9am and then you have the whole place for yourself and can take nice pictures.
Unfortunately the burial site is closed for renovations at the moment

An enjoyable square to walk around for a few hours.
Scenic & colorful architecture & landscape.
Lovely Cathedral with a gorgeous painted ceiling.
Fountain in the middle of the square.
Easy to waist a couple of hours in this area & well worth the effort to do so.

After passing by this gorgeous church numerous times my first few days in Trujillo I finally entered on a Monday afternoon. The church was open and you can visit for free. Inside the church there are beautiful paintings and beautiful murals on the ceiling.
I spent a short 15 minutes taking photos, but it is one of the most gorgeous buildings in town. This is a must visit if you are in Trujillo.

This is a small site....very small compared to Chan Chan. You can easily visit this in less than an hour. What's interesting here are the rainbow motifs (thus the Arco Iris name).
With all the other sites between Trujillo and Chiclayo, this one wouldn't be high on the list. But if you're in the area, it's interesting to stop by.

A lovely and grand Colonial mansion with beautiful courtyards. Free admission, and currently owned by a bank (I think). A nice quick diversion to imagine a way of life in times gone by.
