The bridge was going to be demolished in the past but luckily protestors evaded the demolition from happening. The bridge was built by Robert Prann, an American engineer and it was made of steel that crossed over the Rio Grande de Loiza at about 70 feet above. It was built in the largest river of Puerto Rico and the height was intended to prevent flooding, a hard task. However, the bridge has remained and serves of great purpose to Puerto Ricans.
