Park Complex of Equipment History Named After K.G. Sakharov

The place is really unique! On one spot they collected samples of military and civil technics starting from mid of XX century! Well, unique is just a half of succes! The other half is museum is interactive and very interesting! Never concidered myself as technic-fan but I was thrilled to spin helicopter's propeller! Is there lots of places where you can take picture of you sitting on the airplane's wing or facing the cannon's muzzle?!

Weekdays it's not crowdy at all. The ticket's price is funny! So it worth to spend a couple of hours there. The only negative side is location and a bit complicated transportation to the museum. But it's not such a big deal

Tatishchev Monument

When you do not know where this monument is you just pass by as you will not be able to see it from the street.
But when you stop your car and walk a minute you are amazed. The gentleman on a horse and behind him the river Volga. Huge, wide and the Shiguly Mountains behind!
Erected in 1998 this is a real nice monument. And a lot of people and a recently build-up maze or "labyrinth" in the Russian way which will need years to grow. A really nice place to go, enjoy the view, take some time - you will like it, I am sure!

Tolyatti Museum of Local Lore

Reviewed By VasilyMalygin - St. Petersburg, Russia

What can you expect from the provincial museum of Local Lore... A couple of old pictures, a map of 1737, the reconstruction of several rooms - not much you say. Well you may be right, but don't be so quick to judge. Yes, Togliatty museum of Local Lore has all this standard stuff, but...
But knowing the history of the Stavropol (the original name of Togliatty), which was flooded due to the construction of the Volga Hydroelectric Station and basically disappeared from the face of the earth, you realize that the only chance to learn how did old Stavropol looked like is to see its old pictures in the Museum!
Same GAS-flooding-reason makes you think of how did the land look like before 1950s, and 50 years old and much older maps are here to give you an idea!
Finally reconstructions of different interiors are very accurate and full of details! Now (summer 2013) exposition covers only ages up to beguining of sovet times, but museum works of extention of its exibition and soon they are to open socializm-way of life platforms.
Except from the city history itself you may also learn about more ancient ages in the paleontologic part of the exibition! Kids always love to discover the dinosaur in the box full of sand.
And of course it is fun to finish your visit taking photo of yourself in the historical entourage, though it's only the board with the holes for your heads =)

There is absolutely quietness when you enter through the main gate at a weekend. A lot of construction- and reconstruction works are going on, but this Sunday it was just peaceful and nobody was around except us.
You are not allowed to enter some buildings and having a walk around is also more than fine. Enjoy the beautiful view to Volga, too.

Einstein's Entertaining Sciences Museum

Reviewed By sm0kedcheese - Macau, China

It is not very big (only one floor). Actually it's like a scientific exhibition where you can interact with all the exhibits and a staff there offered wonderful English explanation (with a dramatic tone, haha). For an adult especially one who have a background in science the exhibition may look a little bit simple, but for children this is a good place for them to explore their interest towards science and develop their skills to deeply think about scientific principles. Wish I had such a place to go when I was a child!

Temple of the Assumption

Reviewed By VasilyMalygin - St. Petersburg, Russia

This church is hiding away from the busy city center (all three of them actually) and it may be not so easy to find one or check on just "on the way". But it is definatly worth personal visit!
Togliatty is young city with lack of historical places and this church is not old as well, but it looks like one even feels like one! May be the reason of special atmosphere is the location - on the Volga's bank surrounded by forest. Or it is so different 'cos it's made of wood and not concret... Possibly its size, very compact in compare to other city's churches, also plays its part... Who knows, but in total church of the Assumption is being the most beautiful, engaging and charming of all ortodox cathedrals in Togliatty.
The belfry on the top of the church offers the best view of the Volga river but as for bells peal it is better to enjoy one from the small square in front of the church.
