Sri Ayyappan Temple

KUDOS for the just concluded Mega Annadhanam on 11/12/2017. TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT(TQM)--total participation of management, staff and volunteers. Perhaps they have out beat the Bombay Dabbawallas in achieving SIX SIGMA while conducting this Mega Event. I could not see any hiccups /tension or confusion anywhere.
For a budgeted estimate of 9.88 lacs participation from 16.500 people looks to be less.
I , being an Ayyappa, have been praying at this GREAT PRIVATE temple( SILENCE is a great PENANCE) for the past few weeks in the auspicious month of KARTHIGAI. Initially I was reluctant to participate in the Annadhanam despite their clarion call for participation in large numbers; since such occasions are meant more for the "havenots " rather than "havefull" like me. But the morning of 11/12/17 changed my stance;the Seating layout with number of people at each vantage point made me curious to have a taste of it.I entered the premises @1030 AM and walked out wit sumptuous food in an hour or so. Hall mark of this mega EVENT is that food was served on demand and everybody got their stomachful.
Coming to TQM it is perceived that all activities meticulously planned and work break down structure evolved, assigning responsibility to each and everyone.Executed like a well oiled machine. This speaks volumes on the LEADERSHIP. I notice a GENTLE LADY (ardent devotee of AYYAPPA) at the helm of affairs. Dignity of labour was seen her receiving and stacking the foot wear- a philosophy that in front of AYYAPPA all are equal irrespective of caste, creed, religion , rich or poor. Another acumen noticed is arrangement of washing of hands outside the premises in portable washbasins- enabling quick evacuation of the crowd.( this was absent on that day evening leading to congestion at entry point).
Success of this MEGA event( a lot of uncontrolled variables like numbers, crowd control and behaviour ,clock like precision) is on a good financial management involving donations from public ,ordering of ingredients, kitchen management, cooking etc.
I have participated in Annadhanam on UTTIRAM days earlier in other places, but I have never seen such a MEGA event executed with great aplomb.

Jambukeswarar Temple

Was in Tiruchi for a seminar and visited Srirangam early in the morning. Since the Temple was closed for Darshan, went to Jambukeswarar. The Temple, like many temples in Tamilnadu, is massive with fantastic corridors and fabulous architecture. However since it was too early (it opens around 0645 - 0700 hrs.) But the temple as such was open and I could have darshan of the main sivalinga through the window in front. Normally I could have gone very near. Water accumulates all the time and it is immersed in water on certain days. This is one of the Panchabhoota Lingas - representing Jalam (Water). The others are Arunachaleswarar (Tiruvannamalai) representing Fire, Ekambareswarar (Kancheepuram) the Earth, Srikalahasti (Vayulingam) and Chidambaram Nataraja (Akasha lingam)

Rock Fort Temple

Reviewed By dhivya619 - Chennai (Madras), India

We visited Rock Fort during Decmember 2017. I was personally visiting it after almost 20 years and what a lot of change! And all for good too! It has been made so convenient for pilgrims and tourists with handrails and shaded walkways. My mother in her late 60s and with arthritis was able to climb all the way up. Our 7 year oild too climbed it in a jiffy and was extremely excited with all the wind blowing at the top. The darshan to Lord Vinayaga can be made a little better but I guess they have only so much room to work with on top. After the climb it would be better if people were able to see the God a little clearer and without the fear of getting pushed around. But I guess if ytou visit it early during the day it is pretty less crowded and you can wait and have the darshan to your heart's content.
Do visit Mahendravarman's cave temple just before climbing the final stretch. The engravings and the sculpture are very intriguing. Also visit Thayumanavar Swami temple which is quite enormous though it doesn't look that way from outside.

Hence, if you wanted to have change in your life, come here and meditate and have a change in your life style. Perhaps the only temple where you could see shiva and brahma in the same temple.
