Posong

Reviewed By nasrullahau - Tangerang, Indonesia

It was a place mainly for camping and wait for the sunrise. Located at the foot of Sindoro Mountain, the atmosphere was great for those who want to experience camping and trekking for beginners.
Many locals offered a motorcycle taxi from main road to the venue, but i suggest to take a walk and enjoy the scenery. You can as well say hello to the farmers of even help them with harvesting, like my wife and i did hahaha

This is a place for religious visit, for prayer and spiritual experience and relaxing alike.
There is a man made cave where people could pray with devotion to Mother Mary. There is a series of stations in a via dolorossa along a route starting from a Catholic Church in Ambarawa and finished in the Kerep.
When you are here for relaxation do not miss the Gethsemane garden and make sure to visit the local food hawkers and souvenir stalls

Mount Sindoro - Sumbing

Reviewed By Erik_Mariachi - Yogyakarta, Indonesia

Since Mt Sindoro is often closed for hikers because of some toxic smoke, Mt Sumbing is a good, and even higher alternative. Just 12 km away. Despite some white harmless smoke from its crater, you may see hundreds of butterflies playing at the top. Nothing toxic here.
Track. The track to this 3371m volcano is meant for trekking, but ends up almost with climbing - the steps and rocks are sometimes rather high and need a good fit. The great views start from post 3 and are worth to see. It is important to know that during the dry period, the track is very dusty - wear a mask, gloves, long pants and sleeves. And have a change.
Local hikers tend to do some cheating - they hire an ojek to the 1st post with the cost of 20 000 rps.
Accommodation. The village around the Base Camp is welcoming - right next and opposite to the BC you will find private houses that offer you free room for your sleeping bag in a hikers' dormitory just for the price of food. On the way, the best place for setting up your tent is near post 3 again.

The location is on the upper side of Semarang so the weather was quite cool. There are seven temples which are separated one another by distances. I took a horseback riding so this was very helpful and exciting. The view was so great with warm people. Love it!

Ambarawa Railway Museum

Reviewed By danardanar - Jakarta, Indonesia

This attraction has good collection of locomotives. During holiday and weekend, you might also take 1 hour of diesel train journey using old wooden passenger train.
Not many good choices of place for lunch, you need to find place outside museum.
There is no guide during my visit there, so you need find the details by yourself.
Good for children. A lot of sections is outdoor, so be careful if it's raining. Normally a family will spend time here between 45 mins - 1.5 hour. Depending on whether you are a fan of locomotive or not :)

This was a beautiful half day trip from our villa in Borobudur. The journey is lovely through the villages and the walk itself easy yet very beautiful in the middle of the rice paddies. The temple itself nothing spectacular after seeing Borobudur, however just for the walk it was worthwhile the trip.
