Erected on the border between France and Provence. Opposite castle Beaucaire. Nice visit at 9.30 in a completely deserted complex. Understand that a building of such magnitude is suitable for art Exhibitions. Unfortunately, the quality of Pascal Monteil's art is not high enough to compete with the silent walls.

In the heart of Alpilles, the monumental “Carrieres de Lumieres” host extraordinary multimedia shows which are unique in the world. Spectators are totally immersed in the images projected onto all the surfaces of the rock. The ground is completely covered, too, and becomes a vast carpet of images. The site has reopened its doors with the show “Gauguin - Van Gogh, painters of colour,” created by Gianfranco Iannuzzi with Renato Gatto and Massimiliano Siccardi.

O.K., you may have seen one or several son-et-lumieres, but nothing like this ! Although we missed the first year with Klimt, we have managed to visit each of the last three years with the renaissance painters, Chagall and now Bosch, Archimboldo and Bruegel several ties each as it is now a destination for visits of family and friends. 2018 will be Picasso and the Spanish masters. It is worth going even if you are not so interested in teh art as the spectacle is stunning in itself. Be aware it is in an old stone quarry that is ~12-14 degrees in summer and slightly colder in winter - wrap up!

Our cellar door is open for tasting and the direct purchase from Monday to Friday, 10 am - 6 pm and by appointment.

Wir waren mit fünf Personen zu einer kleinen Verköstigung dort. Die Weine, die dort angeboten werden, werden als Bioweine produziert. Von Qualität und Geschmack waren wir im besten Sinne überzeugt. Es gibt auch einen sehr guten Cremant. Wir haben Herrn Schmitt, den Besitzer, persönlich kennengelernt. Er erzählte uns von der Historie der Domaine und seiner Philosophie des Weinbaus. Interessant und sehr informativ.
Ich werde mit meiner Partnerin im Sommer wiederkommen und die Domaine erneut besuchen. Es gibt noch einiges zu entdecken und zu probieren.

The aquaduct is a nice sight, and the surrounding area is lovely. As other reviewers have said, though, don't leave valuables in your car. We were staying at a mas half an hour away, and the owner confirmed the spot is notorious for thieves breaking into cars.

We visited this in the morning and found a beautiful display of a recently discovered reconstructed 100 foot Roman riverboat. There were a lot of Roman columns, friezes, sarcophagi, statues, and reconstructed models of the ancient Roman Amphitheater and theater in Arles. An hour should be sufficient for a visit.

This is an unchanged site for centuries in the middle of the typical provençal ''Montagnette'' (which means small mountain) amidst pine trees and olive trees. The authentic abbey of the order of Prémontrés can be visited and is a roman Catholic pilgrimmage center. A lovely decorated 19 century church, an extremely beautiful Romanic chapel, and large buildings can be visited.
The abbey is a good walking starting point in the Montagnette.

Near the Pont-du-Gard, in the heart of Provence, an original monument recommended by guidebooks. Nice walk in the Mediterranean forest. Ancient troglodyte monastery dug by ermits andmonks. Vestiges of medieval fortifications. The top of the hill, above the Rhône, offers a wonderful view on Provence.

If you love history you will find this unusual site fascinating. Taking their inspiration of the Egyptian Desert Fathers, hermits, then monks established their monastery by carving their living and religious spaces out of the rock at the top of the hill. As more people joined the monastery, more spaces were carved out. There are remnants of a later castle that was built on the site and on the hill top are many graves carved out of the rock that by today's standards are child like in size. Well worth a visit. It is not far out of Beaucaire and the road is well signposted. Entrance fee was 5,50€ for 2 adults.

We had a lunch in the well restored basement of the Chateau, with only 2 tables the service was friendly and accommodating. The meal was nice but not a "wauw" gastro experience. We ware not overly impressed by the wines, that were only available from their own vineyards no other choice. This restaurant would be ideal for a large group, but not for an intimate "tète à tète"
