Skipton (also known as Skipton-in-Craven) is a market town and civil parish in the Craven district of North Yorkshire, England. Historically in the West Riding of Yorkshire, it is on the River Aire and the Leeds and Liverpool Canal to the south of the Yorkshire Dales, 16 miles (26 km) northwest of Bradford and 38 miles (61 km) west of York. At the 2011 Census, the population was 14,623.

Looking for something reasonably inexpensive for 3 generations with the option of indoor or outdoor attractions, we selected Hesketh Farm Park and were not disappointed.
Price comparisons with similar made this selection very attractive.
Free ample car parking, not at all places.
Many of the animals, not just the lambs, being or recently born.
Small animals for petting.
Also play areas, inside and out, tractor rides, seated indoor food area that can be purchased or you can take your own.
When the Sun came out, an outside play area.
All in all, hugely enjoyed.

The woods were a superb place to go for a walk in Skipton, even on a rainy day. It was lovely to walk along such a picturesque trail underneath the castle hanging over the embankment and head into the woods. If it's raining, you need good waterproof footwear, a rainproof slicker, and your umbrella, and then the woods are a lovely peaceful place to spend an hour or two. There were lots of other folks, so it felt very safe there. Great place to get some exercise. Interesting plants, including lots of wild garlic, which you could smell everywhere.

Just experienced the Christmas Adventure with my nearly 3 year old Grandson.....it was so magical!
We had a lovely lady 'Eskimo' as our guide who was an excellent host too.....the Mulled Wine was a lovely touch for the adults! The 'experience' lasted almost 1hr 45 mins and was worth every penny, very well thought out, moving from area to area based around a tale of helping Santa.....who I'm almost sure was the real deal he was that good! The ride up to the Reindeers was bone shakingly exciting too....
Something to suit all ages with a very generous gift at the end. No criticisms, just a job really well done by your team (every staff member we met was very pleasant and chatty.....a credit to you!) which has left a lasting impression with a very excited little boy who hasn't stopped talking about it! See you next year!!

A must for anyone with an interest in architecture or history. This is a beautiful church and the stained glass windows are amazing, it's also nice to see that it's still so much a part of the community. Check out the cafe as well, staff are friendly and the home cooked cakes are delicious and you can get a cuppa at a very reasonable price.

Very friendly reception from the castle staff and very reasonable prices for entry.
Guide book is well worth the money.
It's a self lead tour with a very well designed guide sheet but there's friendly and helpful staff to help!
Small castle but packed with history and really worth a morning or afternoon visit.
I would go again.
Stairs are a bit uneven in places so care is needed but only for a few places and wouldn't spoil a visit!

Visited here as part of a tour around wharfedale and surrounding area ( I travelled from the south west of England so don't know the area ). I'd googled possible Gardens to visit in advance of my trip hence this visit- otherwise I wouldn't have found it because it isn't widely advertised- very few leaflets in local tourist information places ( I had to ask for one in grassington Dales centre and they took a while to dig one out) , it's not easy to find and you have to be prepared to drive a bit off the beaten track to get there ( or hike, of course). The Gardens are stunningly beautiful,and nestling in the heart of the Dales they are such a pleasant surprise. Be prepared, however, for a very steep walk up to the main Gardens, with limited ( i.e. None) signage to tell you what where ( excepting a notice board in the car park. The tea shop is at the entrance and is adequate , a plant sale alongside it did have a disappointingly limited ( and expensive ) selection of plants. The toilets aren't by the tea shop- they are a trek up the main drive to the top by the main garden. The house isn't open- it's used by the diocese of West Yorkshire as a retreat- it does look lovely from the outside though. This is a hidden gem of a garden but I have to say I did come away with the impression that visitors aren't really welcomed with open arms- it's more of a case of " we don't really need you here" I'm afraid to say. For the £7 admission charge ( there are concessions) I really do feel that we are needed and that more could be done to at least signage for different parts of the garden ( which could easily be achieved without being obtrusive)- in summary I think I would say" try welcoming visitors a bit more- we have come out of the way to find you, you have a beautiful garden and we are prepared to pay the price to see it!!!"

Been here before for lunch in the summer, and because of the good food and shop thought it worth the half hour drive on a beautiful morning weather wise from Ilkley. This time in mid winter wasn't quite as good as previously, the lunch menu seemed quite limited, cafe seemed a bit cold and cheerless, although plenty of people were fishing. I had smoked trout chowder, and I have to say it was delicious. Staff were good and attentive as usual.

Want a scenic walk through Skipton,look no further.Away from the hustle and bustle of people and traffic,just stroll canalside at the back of the town.
Very enjoyable,watching the swans and ducks glide effortlessly past,gaily coloured narrowboats tied up alongside the towpaths.You can even hire a boat or just take a trip on a pleasurecraft.Perfect way to spend an afternoon.

Copper Dragon & Greyhawk are two of the finest Yorkshire brewers producing well-known brands such as Golden Pippin and Blonde Obsession ale. We moved to our current premises in May 2015 and offer brewery tours Monday-Saturday 11.30am where visitors can come and see a full operational brewery, have a pint and browse our gift shop. The Visitor Centre shop is also open Monday-Friday 9am-4.30pm is packed with bottled ales, gifts and brewing memorabilia. Home-cooked food is available on evening brewery tours (by prior arrangement only for parties in excess of 16).

Well what can you say, Beers in the Brewery..... What a different evening. So many happy staff very attentive. Great cask ales and lagers Yorkshire tapas and live music. Can't wait for the next one, first Friday of the month..... Already in my diary....Thanks to all concerned for making an evening to remember....

Staying at the Devonshire Arms we went for a lovely morning stroll in the sun. Staying at the hotel we got our parking for free.
We enjoyed the peace, tranquility and beauty of the parkland.
We also had a look at the abbey, both the ruins and functioning parish church.
A very nice place indeed.
