Gallrein Farms

We take a trip annually to the pumpkin patch. Being from Indiana, we typically visit Huber’s. However my daughter said, let’s try this! Here’s my summation...

It’s much more spacious, doesnt feel so crowded.

The hayride is longer which is nice.

Wasn’t a fan of buying tickets to do everything.

I feel like there are more activity options for the little ones here, but less activity for adults.

No winery (at least that I saw). Less shopping to do.

It’s a nice place. If you are adults looking for a day out, maybe Huber’s instead? Folks with kiddos like us, this was a really nice change of pace. Give it a try!

For an outlet area, it was nice, but don't believe the signs you see on backside of buildings. The stores are not where the signs are. Only went in several stores, one was about same price as other locations you could get the items. Other one was nice, prices good.

They have been open less than a year. It’s a shiny new structure with enthusiastic tour guides and moonshine and vodka. Oh, there was one whiskey sample. Forgive them for they are new and it will be a bit before their bourbon is ready. Nevertheless, it was a beautiful setting with taste samples of their product. You get 4 to sample out of the 10 they offered. Tough choices. It’s $10 for tours and lasts an hour. There is ample parking and you are only a 1/4 mile from Taylor Winery if you wanted to visit both. Do check out the classic vehicles on display and check the website for events that are going on.

Plan to spend the day at wonderful Wakefield Scearch in Shelbyville, Ky. Wakefield Scearce has a history of fine English and American antiques, English reproductions, a silver vault, paintings, wonderful accessories, linen room for many years but declined in recent years. Now, under new ownership, I can say it will not only be back to its days of glory but surpass all expectations. I personally know the new owner and the sky is the limit as to the wonderful way this business will evolve. There are no other antique business in Kentucky that comes near the quality and selection of WS.
Housed in what was an outstanding girls preparatory school ran from 1825-1939, beautiful architecture and you can see where the young ladies carved their names in the glass windows with their diamond rings.

Terry and Tha Bus Shizzle were an excellent find on the internet. We used them for my brothers bachelor party and was not disappointed. Excellent service, always arrived on time and was even able to squeeze an extra visit to a moonshine distillery. I would highly recommend Tha Bus Shizzle to anyone visiting the Bourbon trails or want a fun night out in Louisville! Don´t waste your time with the normal run of the mill tours companies (aka Mint Julep)... Give Terry a call and jump on the Bus Shizzle for an outstanding adventure! You won´t be disappointed.

Went by to get a few gifts & was very pleased at the nice selections of wines & ports. There is a gift shop with a lot of cute items from dish towels, ornaments, bottle covers etc.... The lady working there was very friendly & greeted me as I walked into the wine tasting room. She explained the different wines & about the wine club. I bought one bottle of wine, really liked the label I posted it in my pictures.
I will definitely go back for a wine tasting with some friends.
Easy to find right off the highway.

The Ruby Rooster Antique Mall is an anchor store in downtown Shelbyville. The people who run it are nice, down-home types with free cookies and coffee. They have two buildings full of nice vintage and antique items and each building had two floors, including a rough room. I have been to this store many times. There are many, many booths. The only reason it doesn't get five stars is recently, a particular item I collect seems to have been bought up out of all the other booths by one vendor and he has doubled the price (antique oil lamps) on everything. That was my real reason to go there besides the social interaction, and this one vendor has priced me out of the store. Still, it's a nice place you should visit!

Stacey's Simple Stuff

We are currently open from 10AM - 6PM Wednesday - Saturday. We are a unique gift shop selling primitive and country decor. We are located in a historic log cabin that was built in 1806.

I was in Shelbyville attending a business meeting when I came upon Stacy’s Simple Stuff. The log cabin itself is worth stopping to look at for it is an original and has been standing on this site for well over 100 years. The interior rooms are filled with a multitude of items to walk through and no doubt you can find a great gift for a family member or friend.

The staff was very friendly and open and more than willing to share the history of the building itself. I met one of the owners, and he was truly delightful and personable.
This is a must stop if you are in Shelbyville.
