This memorial provides a fitting tribute to those who served in Vietnam and has a number of items on display including a helicopter, a Centurion tank and field gun.
There is also a detailed history of the war on plaques.
Take the gentle stroll down the walkway and think about all those who served in this dreadful war.

Whilst there are heaps of improvements progressively being made to this most historical of areas, it is a shame that it isn't already more informative, user friendly and accessible.
The signage on the Goulburn Highway is terrible...either direction you are only given about 50m notice of the turn-off and at 100kph, you don't get much time to slam on the brakes and turn in. Please position the attraction signs at least 100m from the entrance and place a sign on opposite to the small entrance track so you can actually see where to enter!!
The area is quite large, sprawling over some 120 hectares. There are tracks going everywhere so it is quite a challenge to ensure you stay on the mapped path. And it isn't all that clear just where the points of interest are as there isn't any information signs at them or clear paths to them. Wear good walking shoes and take water, especially on a hot day.
The toilet (single) at the car park is also VERY POORLY signed. If you manage to see the sign in the bush, it doesn't actually point to the toilet and given that it is located on the inside of the intersection of two paths, you'd be forgiven for thinking that the female toilet went one way and the males the other...but no, the obvious male path is actually the return path from the attraction and there is only one toilet for both M/F...which is fine but seriously not obvious.
There is a water Fountain at the car park for people and pets. Dogs are allowed.
There is a great sheltered informational area inside the start of the attraction. Other information signs within the park all need replacement and updating.
There are a number of sleeper seats scattered throughout but not all are under shelter. Take an umbrella on a hot day.
All in all, it is a step back in time and one that is quite emotional when you realise that thousands of very young men (16-19yo) trained there, with their horses...many never to return home and only one horse came home. Lest We Forget.

Based in what appears to be a factory of the 60s, the cream brick building is uninviting and uninspiring at best. The signage is poor, so you would really need to be consciously looking for the place or you'd just drive by. Which is a shame as the wines weren't bad at all and a number of rarer varieties such as savaign are on offer. The service was just average as was the general atmosphere. It would seem they opened this place before it was ready to be opened. Nothing is bad but nor is it particularly good. I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to visit again.

The Black Train (or more correctly Elliot Reserve) has been a Seymour landmark for generations. The name comes from the old steam locomotive and tender which was placed on site when steam was phased out.
The area was renovated by Mitchell Shire Council about 1996. This included a road closure, creating some beautiful Gardens, walking paths, Seating, and a sheltered barbecue eating area. There is also a well-maintained playground for children. But the big attraction for them is the loco: the train. They can climb into the cab, play with the handles,and enjoy. Nearby are food outlets and the main street is barely 100m away. And some history: there is a memorial celebrating the centenary of the visit by lord Kitchener, which led to the establishment of military training in the area.
5. Seymour Bushland Park

On the other side of the highway to Light Horse Park, Bushland Park is more rugged and is essentially a walking tour of an old/former military establishment. There are no buildings remaining, but foundations and outlines are still to be found.
This is more of a bushwalker's scene than a historical area, but is still worth a visit from those interested in Australia's military history.

I checked out the gallery here while waiting for dinner in the restaurant to be served. I enjoyed the selection of art on offer and the people I was lunching with were pleasantly surprised to see pieces displayed here by artists whose work they had previously purchased. I liked the range of pieces on display from framed artworks to small sculptures and jewellery. Well worth a look.

This little memorial to those who served in the First World war is not far from the Vietnam Memorial Walk.
It is also well worth a visit and appropriate to also remember those who served in an earlier conflict. . It is immaculately maintained and the roses are a delight.

Goulburn Park is quite simply the best park that I have encountered. It is a part of the reason why we settled in Seymour as we rented a house within a block of it.
It is a large park, so there is plenty of room for large groups, and for lots of people. There are lost of tables and chairs, and even a Rotunda for a bit of shade.
It used to have two Playgrounds but now the council has consolidated it into one playground. The slides are gone, too risk I'm guessing, but it has a great new asset which is a round net on a swing. Very cool and popular with small groups of kids.
There are BBQs all over the park, and I'm thinking that they are free.
One of the best things about Goulburn Park is that it is next to a section of the Goulburn River. This river always has water in it as there is a dam up at Eildon controlling the flow. It gets a bit lower in winter, as the food bowl around Shepparton doesn't need the water as much, so the water's up in summer. It's a good size river too, and it doesn't flow fast around the Goulburn Park so you can swim or canoe or fish. But beware, the water is released from the bottom of the dam which may explain why the water is so cold, even in summer.
Goulburn Park also provides a boat ramp.
There is also a sound bowl, which is fun for the kids to play in. This is used for the town's Xmas carols. There is also a large flat concrete surface that, back in the day, used to be the town pool. It is now empty and great for games or remote control cars etc.
All up, an awesome park and worth a visit. It is particularly good for families or group gatherings.

Right on the Old Hume Hwy at Seymour, Rotary Park is simply a place to relax, enjoy the river view, and refresh from the nearby pubs, cafes, and fast food outlets.The usual free barbecue under shelter, and well spaced tables and benches make it an easy choice for a roadside break.
For the kids, there is the attraction of the Leopard tank: good access (yes, they can climb on it) and lots of information on the accompanying storyboard. After eating, you can visit the well-maintained playground across the road, adjacent to the Visitor Information Centre and art gallery. Nearby is the Old Post Office Gallery and restaurant, which is always worth a visit with its ever changing range and shows.

I've visited the Seymour Railway Heritage Centre twice, and I took the Cub Scouts twice. It was a great visit, really enjoyable with an interesting tour guide.
You have to book a tour, well we did, and I would recommend anyone else to do the same.
The trains aren't on a platform, so there's plenty of walking and climbing up and down trains. If you have trouble walking then you may struggle with this.
They have great trains, and great carriages. A particularly special one was that used by the Queen when visiting in the 50's, from memory. Very flash.
We were also taken into the building from which trains are managed. I'm sure it has a proper title but I can't think of it.
Great tour, the kids and I really enjoyed it and we'll do it again in the future.
