Actually visited many cities between Modena and Milan (pavia, Parma, Piacenza, etc) and this site has been the single most memorable place for me.
Beautiful artistic themes, historical and great technique. The English speaking guide was highly knowledgeable of every room and their historical and artistic contexts.
Would highly recommend.

Tenuta Vandelli was born in 2011 on the foundations of the farm Vandelli that about since 1960 has been dealing with viticulture in the territory of San Michele dei Mucchietti in the hills of the province of Modena, a few kilometers south of Sassuolo on the right bank of the river Secchia.Thanks to the tenacity and passion for the Vine and the experience gained over the last 50 years by Valter Vandelli, who, with the support of his family, has decided to undertake this project which sets itself the maintenance and enhancement of a great heritage of quality as a goal, consisting of about ten hectares of Vineyards planted with typical grape varieties in the area around Modena: Lambrusco Grasparossa of Castelvetro, Lambrusco Salamino of Santa Croce, Ancelotta, Malbo Gentile, Spergola and Pignoletto.The family, the location and the quality are the main points that inspire our daily work and which translate into care and reverential attention to the vineyard, pruning systems aimed at low yields, manual grape harvest, winemaking and sparkling wine systems up to dateness of the wine-making technique, care and research to packaging of our bottles.Vandelli estate has its roots in a hundred years old history, involving the noblest past of Sassuolo and the area that once belonged to the noble family of Este. In possesso di un cofanetto Smart Box con diverse offerte abbiamo optato per la visita e degustazione in questa tenuta, perché vicina a Modena.
Dopo aver prenotato ci siamo recati nella tenuta di domenica e siamo stati accolti dal titolare che ci ha condotto in giro per una parte del vigneto illustrandoci, con dovizia di particolari, caratteristiche anche tecniche.
La loro cantina vinifica circa il 20% dei 10 ettari vitati, mentre il resto viene ancora conferito alla Cantina Sociale.
L'intento del sig: Vandelli sarebbe di vinificare in futura quasi tutta la produzione.
Sono stati degustati tre tipi di vino: un bianco, un Grasparossa ed un Rosato.
A detta di mio marito (io non bevo vino) il rosso ed il rosato erano i migliori.
La degustazione prevedeva anche crescentine, affettati, formaggi. Molto buona la qualità sia delle crescentine appena sfornate che degli affettati. Ottimo il parmigiano di collina del vicino caseificio di Montegibbio.
La degustazione avviene in un bel capannone con pietre forate contornato da splendidi alberi di carpino.

A few miles away from the town of Sassuolo and half a mile from the actual village of Montegibbio you can find this ancient castle hidden among the high trees on the top of a hill. The castle itself is not visitable (apart from a few guided tours a year). In one of the buildings there is the Acetaia Comunale (where the local balsamic vinegar is produced). There is a little church and a tower as well. You can rent the castle court for celebrations and special occasions. There is a park which sorrounds the castle on the hilltop (Parco Ducale) where the panaorama is great and you can pick delicious wild blackberries in the summer. The place is ideal for families with little children as there is a playground as well.

E' fra le più belle attrazioni di Sassuolo. Una chiesa settecentesca costruita in stile barocco. Un barocco, anzi barocchetto, leggero, armonioso e gradevole esteticamente. Uno più interessanti e rari esempi di questo stile (poco diffuso). L'esterno e assai semplice, in laterizio, che male si configura nella brutta "piazza piccola", meriterebbe un contorno migliore. L'interno è ben decorato, prevale il bianco ed è assai luminoso. I decori, anche se baroccheggianti, risultano eleganti e creano un effetto particolarmente suggestivo ed appagante. Molto bello il coro, alcuni dipinti, fra cui una preziosa tela di Boulanger, la seicentesca statua della Madonna del Carmine. Chi va a Sasuolo per visitare il bellissimo Palazzo Ducale, metta in programma anche questa chiesa.

Detta piazza piccola per distinguerla dalla "piazza grande" (piazza Martiri Partigiani). È una suggestiva piazza seicentesca ben conservata. Gli edifici che la circondano su tre lati, senza soluzione di continuità, sono ad piano con porticato a piano terra; intonacati e dipinti con il caratteristico color rosso mattone. Nel lato sud si erge la torre civica dell'orologio, con il monumento ai caduti della prima guerra mondiale, statua in bronzo (il fante ignudo ) del famoso artista modenese Giuseppe Graziosi; la lapide che ricorda il trionfale passaggio a Sassuolo dell'eroe dei due mondi e la Madonna con bambino, terracotta del Pulici. Purtroppo la vista della piazza è deturpato dall'orrbile edificio costruito negli anni sessanta a ridosso del lato est.

La pescheria detta anche "il fontanazzo" è stata costruita nel seicento con lo scopo di fornire pesce fresco alla mensa ducale. E' un elemento fantastico nel complesso architettonico della piazza su cui si affacciano l'imponente palazzo ducale e la chiesa di San Francesco in Rocca. La bizzarra caratteristica è quella di avere le sembianze di un teatro con platea, file di palchi e scenografia sullo sfondo.

Deve il suo nome alla nobile famiglia dei Della Rosa. La spettacolarità deriva essenzialmente dal palazzo Ducale che la domina tutto il lato prospiciente l'ingresso alla piazza. A destra la chiesa di San Francesco che mette in mostra la semplice ed elegante facciata e a sinistra vi è la suggestiva pescheria Ducale.

La torre civica dell'orologio (detta campanone) è parte integrante della bella piazza seicentesca intitolata all'eroe dei due mondi. Nel portico che consente l'accesso alla piazza da sud vi è stato collocato il monumento ai caduti della prima guerra mondiale, statua in bronzo (il fante ignudo) del famoso artista modenese Giuseppe Graziosi. A lato una targa ricorda il passaggio di Garibaldi da Sassuolo. Incastonata nella torre, sotto l'orologio si ammira una terracotta di Madonna con Bambino.
