We have taken the tour several times. Each year the tour is more developed and more options for tours are available. We stopped in at the factory store to buy cork which my wife uses to make purses etc. A roll of cork one meter ranges in price from 15-19 euros for the kind to be used in making purses. Some of the cork can cost up to 200 euros a meter. Friendly staff.

The vendor explained everything about the products (salt flowers, Chilly jelly, petiscada of mackerels, almond liquor and others) as well as their origin, production and use. Avalanche Algarve

Know the Algarve by bycicle, on a top quality bike. Amazing roads and routes. Road or mountain: you choose we deliver!

Reviewed By Sirvelox - Basel, Switzerland

We stayed in Quinta do Lago for two weeks and I was fortunate enough to be introduced to Avalanche by our concierge.
I rented a fantastic carbon Felt bike. Great condition, super clean, great brake and gear set up. Super smooth running. Better than my bike at home! They also delivered hex wrench tool, mini pump, seat storage, two inner tubes and a track pump for the villa. I had brought my own but next time I will no that I don't need to.
The team's service was awesome. They set the bike up to the measurements that I sent in advance (having asked if this was possible in advance). Fantastic! I had a small issue with one of the cranks that prevented me from Seating my P1 pedals properly (I'd brought my own pedals and asked for the bike to be delivered without pedals) but the owner brought a mechanic down as so as possible and it was fixed in 2 minutes. You can't ask for more than that.
So, I can heartily recommend Avalanche and will definitely use them again when I return to the Algarve.
Awesome service, fantastic bike and running gear. Thanks to all of the team and see you again soon!

We wanted to hire 2 bikes for 8 days in the Algarve and Lisa's bikes made it very easy for us. The bikes we had were excellent. Delivery was on time and efficient. Also when we had a puncture problem we couldn't fix their 2 boys arrived within 30 minutes of our call and solved the problem quickly and were pleasant throughout. Again pick up of the bikes was on time.
A great experience all round

An historic building with an exhibition of costumes related to time - some things a bit abstract but interestingly presented. I found the room dedicated to the referee informative. The Gardens are pleasant though the carts are looking a bit run down. There is a refreshment facility and plenty of places to sit out and enjoy the Sunshine.

Dias de Aromas is a recently opened ecological herb nursery in the Sao Bras area. They organise visits to the nursery in which you will learn about the many different plants and herbs that are grown and their medicinal properties. You get to taste and more importantly to smell. Vitor, our guide, was very knowledgeable not only about the plants but also about the region and succeeded in transferring part of his passion for a different production-process, with respect for the plants and nature. Dias de Aromas also grow herbs to make fresh herbal teas.

Bengado Windmill

Reviewed By Rippingrik - Croydon, United Kingdom

Well its not the easiest to find but worth it once you do. Alternatively you can go on an organised visit through the Museum in Sao Bras when you could see inside. But its a traditional restored mill and after a climb its rewarding.
Car access is possible but its more of a track at the top.
