We did a tour of this site with Eduardo from Salvadorean Tours and he and the location were amazing. With Eduardo’s local knowledge the site came to life. Well worth a stop

Jardin Botanico La Laguna

Reviewed By Firsdown - West Sussex, United Kingdom

A wonderful oasis of calm in a hot, busy car filled city. Well maintained particularly considering that it is in a developing country. Plenty of facilities and interesting wildlife such as large iguanas, terrapins and plenty of birds. Small but perfectly formed!

Parque Nacional El Boqueron

Reviewed By mikebrownnz - Cardiff, United Kingdom

El Boqueron is a relatively short drive from San Salvador and you can be taken to within a relatively short distance of the summit. It takes a normal person about ten minutes to walk the track to the top. There is a track that once used to lead a long way around the rim and down to the bottom of the crater but this is no longer maintained and specifically advised against using. Once at the summit, there are four viewing points along about a fifty metre section of the rim. There is also a small information centre next to the car park and a wonderful view back across San Salvador and Lake Ilopango to the volcano of San Vicente. Slightly further down the hillside there are a couple of restaurants which have even clearer views than from the top.

Museo de Arte de El Salvador

Reviewed By Muggle2000 - London, Canada

Small but rich in culture. We enjoyed the galleries and exhibitions. The entrance fee was less than $3.00 which covered the entire museum. There is a restaurant in the premises as well, can't comment on that as we didn't actually go in. There's also a small gift shop with souvenirs, some cheaper than others. The exhibitions were full of culture and history, with local artists work. The civil war years exhibition was filled with nostalgia and a sense of sadness, part of our history. A small suggestion : it would be nice to see a description in other languages for those whose Spanish is not their mother tongue, just so that they could learn too ????... Other that, a wonderful place, loved it...

Catedral Metropolitana

Reviewed By SteveRainville99 - Orlando, United States

This was definitely one of my favorite building in all of San Salvador. The architectural design is flawless, both inside and outside. I loved the memorial to Saint Oscar Arnulfo Romero, who was brutally killed back in 1980, and became a hero of this small nation. Just beautiful at every corner, especially the painted dome!

I have to be honest, this place never interested me in the past, but i had to take my girlfriend, because she wanted to know more about the history of my country, and because of her, i found out this nice place full of history, it's such a beautiful building that it deserves a visit once in a lifetime of every citizen of this country. I hope they will restore it to it's full someday!
