Roda Golf Course

Reviewed By terence c - Birmingham, United Kingdom

We ate here mostly because of the setting, the outdoor dining area is beautiful with an amazing view over the golf course & beyond. We went on a Tuesday, for whatever reason the menu is limited to other days. We all had a fillet beef meal, it was nice food & we would eat there again. Staff are friendly & helpful. Some of us had the chocolate melt in the middle cake, this was pretty amazing.

Las Charcas Mud Baths

Small lakes with very warm water, and deck and step access provided. People bath in these pools and smear the mud from the bottom over their bodies. The mud is reportedly excellent for damaged skin and for arthritic pain

Our first visit was on Wednesday 4th October 2017. Read a previous review and the directions to Lo Pagan worked very well. Completely free and great fun even if you don't get muddied up. Met a lovely bunch of people who lent us their small beach bucket and also gathered us some mud, which did the 3 of us. We used our hands to spread it all on and laughed a lot. Yes it is smelly (like rotten eggs) when handling it but it disappears quickly once on. You then stand on the wooden piers to dry. I would recommend taking a vessel of some description to gather the mud and a sponge or cloth to get it of again. We weren't prepared so a pair of socks were used on this occasion.
Lovely big Promenade too with beech bars and shops to browse. Great day out and would go back in a minute. Don't mis it if you are in the area.

The Dog & Duck, Santiago De La Ribera

Reviewed By Barry G - Yorkshire, United Kingdom

We invariably call in here for Sunday Lunch which of course is a British tradition even when on holiday.
The food is plentiful and well cooked and offers a choice of main course meats.
I have never been able to manage three courses and find a starter and main quite sufficient.
Andrea as been running the place single handed during the more recent past and is doing an excellent job assisted by her mother-in-law Pauline and other family members.
The food is always very good and the menu varied.
So please continue to patronise this venue because it is the only English venue in Santiago.

Great Restaurant with meals at very competitive prices. One can also have a round of mini golf.
Plenty of car parking, situated just outside Los Alcázares on the RM-F30 just before the Mar Menor Golf Resort.
Very friendly staff, great food, quick service. Give them a try.

Lo Romero Golf

Reviewed By Mike V - Guernsey

We went to Lo Romero twice in cold January weather. What lovely people run this course and the course was in excellent condition despite heavy rain. Also wasn’t lined with houses or apartments and seemed to be only about golf. No sumptuous Clubhouse just functional wooden buildings. Plus the eighteenth hole is very special.

Dos Mares

Reviewed By nnmercman - Camberley, United Kingdom

The local area is a bit scruffy but don't be put off going as it's close to the airport and handy for where we're staying in Los Alcazares. Plenty of parking and with all the shops/stalls/restaurants plus cinema there's sure to be something for everyone in this clean and modern mall. A big draw is the large Carrefour supermarket which is located on the ground floor along with most of the shops (cafes and restaurants are upstairs). Just off the roundabout with the plane is a petrol station with probably the cheapest fuel around.

Lo Pagan Mud Baths

Reviewed By JohnRWebb - Eastbourne, England, United Kingdom

Having watched loads of various aged men women and children cover themselves in this black mud, stand about while it dried and turned light grey before they then returned to the water and washed it all off again. We had been told by Tom from Bay Bike Hire it has healing properties in the mud if used for a 7 day period so we should take some home? We decided against that, but as Sue has a stiff shoulder she decided to give the mud a one off go just doing her shoulder and not covering her entire body. As can be seen from the photos she did it and to be far her skin on her shoulder did feel softer but she said it did little to help her shoulder pain. But having been told it has to be used at least for 7 days before it works, and the number of spanish people we witnessed covering their effected parts with the mud and also collecting extra to continue applying at home I have say it must do something to help or it wouldn't be used by the locals at the weekend I feel. So if you visit Lo Pagan to use the mud make sure it is done every day and not once if you want it to cure you as the locals do.

El Habanero Tren Turistico

A fun Tourist Train in Los Alcazares. 'El Habanero' runs around the town every 45 mins, every night in the summer starting at 7.00 p.m. Please see the clocks for the next train. Tickets are return so whether you just wish to see around this lovely Spanish town while waving to all, or to hop off for a meal in the old town and get a lift back, the price is the same. We are now closed for Autumn, hope to see you next May. Regards The train crew.

We booked dinner in the Old Town and were recommended the train instead of using a taxi. The train essentially does a loop every 45 minutes and consists of three carriages and about 65 passengers. It's a great atmosphere on board, with the train playing music. The journey takes about 10 minutes one way and costs €3 return per person. Last train back is 11.30pm. Would definitely recommend the train, great fun and really fast.
