Splendid show with different birds of prey. Eagles, owl etc. and among those the American national eagle - the Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) - the staff very competent.

In my opinion there is no more beautifully plages Church in all of Denmark. This small strukturen on top of the Hill, with water almost all around, is truet a divine spot on Earth. If I can, I want to get burried here.

Op befietsbare afstand van de haven van Ballen staat deze mooie historische molen. Ook het uitzicht vanaf de molen over het eiland en de korenvelden is adembenemend mooi.

After checking out the old farm yard (closed, with access from the main museum in the old creamery up the street), we went into the museum. We were shown an historic film and told about exhibits. The Central room was all about schools, with several small rooms showing examples of different time periods. What was most interesting to me was further along - an inside/outside area where children could learn about the past through experiencing it. There was a hollowed out wooden boat which children could paddle, cannon they could prepare and fire,a huge stone they could move using rollers, and even a halved and hollowed oak tree section for trying ancient grave practices. Inside, they could try the ancient art of painting on limestone of the inside walls of churches, and other historic practices. It is an excellent learning laboratory.

Vi besøger her Samsø’s ældste kirke fra ca 1200-tallet. Kirkeklokken er Samsøs ældste.
Kirken er fin og fremstår kridhvid i solens stråler denne efterårsdag.
Det mest betagende ved denne kirke synes vi er, at gravstederne ligger omkring en gammel mose i smukke naturomgivelser og med 1000 karper til at holde algerne væk.

A beautiful church surrounded by equally impressive gardens/grounds. The head groundskeeper was very friendly and even gave us directions to allow us to visit people we had met on the island 15 years ago, but could not track down. An enjoyable visit.

We didn't walk out to the end of the spit as we were fast running out of time with a ferry back to the Mainland to catch. However, even from the car park at the start of the headland you can see it is a lovely location. It is reached by taking the road through Besser and then following it on until the end, it becomes a dirt track for the last few hundred metres but is passable in any vehicle. There are picnic benches in the car park.
