,,,there's something to do here. Through the years our family has enjoyed the fantastic go-karting, now with 2 professional-like tracks and hot karts. They also love the horseback riding on 30 or 45 minute trails which take you down to the Wisconsin River's edge. They have battle-boats, sort of bumper cars on water. More recently they've added a rock-climbing wall, trampolines, batting cages for hard and soft ball and a new mini golf course. All activities are closely supervised by staff and at the end of your visit you can visit an on-site ice cream shop to chose among 32 flavors of Wisconsin produced ice cream. Everyone can find something to enjoy here.

Heart of Vilas County Paved Bike Trails

Reviewed By philkeeling1 - Traverse City, Michigan

We rode from Manitowish lakes to Boulder Junction and the next day from Boulder Junction to Sayner. The trails are well maintained and go through some pretty country. They meander through woodland areas and various parks. Some hills sneak up on you so be ready to gear down fast. Also the trails are not very wide and the signage is not good. There will be a CAUTION AHEAD sign for no apparent reason and then no warning for a 90 degree turn at the bottom of a fast hill. Also no mileage markers. Make sure to get a good local map. Bottom line: Absolutely great trail system but be alert.

Two girlfriends and I signed up for the yoga SUP class. The location is just outside of St Germain and easy to find. Class is at the Cedaroma Lodge. The class lasted about 1-1/2 hours. We were fortune to have a hot spell, so it was fine that the water was a little cool. Two of us had only tried the SUP the day before so we were quite novices but did just fine. Doing yoga on an SUP is definitely challenging but so much fun. I loved that after the class we were allowed to paddle around a bit. We wore swimsuits and though we brought water shoes, it was advised to remove those while doing yoga, which really worked out well. The instructor was very knowledgeable and really helped to make this a great experience. I would do this again.

On vacation we like to challenge ourselves with a round of golf here. This year was no exception. The course was in exceptional shape and the staff very friendly. What really impressed me was their support of youth golfers. When we showed up they were having a clinic for kids of all ages which included skills training and a round of golf on their course. There must have been 100 kids. Glad to see them support the community and sports. Kudos to you. It is worth your time to play here. Oh yeah, bring extra golf balls for the narrow fairways.

We love this trail!

My husband and I are active empty nesters. He’s in his early 60’s, I’m in my mid 50’s. There were 4 other people in our tour group, all in their 30’s. We enjoyed the day until it rained. Nothing you can do about that……..

We would normally bike on our own but we liked the idea of having lunch provided and not having to cover the same part of the trail twice in an out and back to the car.

We met on the trail in St. Germain. Erich (tour guide) loaded our bikes on a trailer with lots of other bikes. The trailer had a secure holder for each bike. I think there was room for about 8-12 bikes but I didn’t actually count. The conversation in the van reminded us of what we like when we stay at a bed and breakfast. We learned a little bit about each person in the group. Erich had some interesting stories about when he guided tours out west and in Hawaii.

Erich unloaded bikes after we reached our destination. My husband and I brought our own bikes and helmets. I have neck issues so I’m very picky about riding another bike and I like my own helmet. The other people in the group had bikes and helmets provided by the tour company. I think there were a couple sizes in helmets and multiple sizes in bikes. I asked if I could try one of the bikes and rode it around briefly. It was a nice bike with a comfortable seat. I asked one of the 30-something guys who had talked about biking when he was younger and seemed to know a lot about bikes what he thought. He said he liked the bike he was riding. Erich drove the van. His wife rode with us on the trail. Their kids were also riding in the van and I think they helped with setting up the picnic. They were well behaved and courteous.

The trail is awesome. Much better than the mostly straight and flat Rails to Trails we are used to. Nice curves and elevation changes but nothing too difficult.

The picnic provided on the tour was nice. Nothing fancy but more than a boxed lunch. Several kinds of deli meat for sandwiches with 2 kinds of bread and various condiments, fresh fruit and veggies, green leaf salad with a few different bottled dressings to choose from and cookies for dessert. There was more on the table, but that is what I remember.

The most frustrating part of the tour, was our own fault. I like to stop for pictures and when we got behind I thought we could catch up to the rest of the group easily. We ended up calling Erich in the van to make sure we didn’t make a wrong turn. Later, when it started to rain, we got ahead of the group trying to go faster to get out of the rain. We ended up taking a wrong turn - even though they had put up a sign where we were supposed to turn. Our plan to not be wet, ended with us being wet and temporarily lost. We had to call again for instructions. Erich and his wife were very nice, she went out to look for us and even though they were probably very frustrated with us, they didn’t act like they were upset. During the whole lost in the rain fiasco, I fell off my bike when I took a corner too sharp and gashed my leg on my bike pedal. Kind of embarrassing. They had a nicely stocked first aid kit they let us use. They offered to help if we needed help but I let my husband be my doctor while they tended to the other people on the tour.

I would do this again. Next time I would consider using the shuttle service so we could bike the whole trail …..AND I would pay closer attention and not get lost.

My boyfriend took me to this massage center while visiting the Saint Germain area. We were both new to it and found them online with luck. The center is elegant yet simple for the northwoods area, . We both received a hour deep tissue massage and were impressed with the deep pressure and overall relaxation the therapist provided. I've been to the sundara spa at wisconsin dells many times and didn't receive anything close to what this girl had to offer in pressure. Prices are reasonable for the services given. Only downfall is that we came during the off-season (April) and only one therapist was available so we did have to wait for each others massage to get done (but magazines and tea are provided), but despite that, I can say it was well worth it and we'll book again!
