Edsel & Eleanor Ford House

Telling the story of Edsel and Eleanor Ford and their family through their historic home on the shores of Lake St. Clair. We offer tours, programs and special events at this National Historic Landmark. Edsel Ford was the son of Henry Ford, and he built his grand home in the style of the Cotswold villages in England. Surrounded by 87 acres of scenic lakeside grounds, the home and landscape are open for tours in all seasons. The home was designed by prominent Detroit architect Albert Kahn and Jens Jensen, one of America's foremost landscape designers and conservationists. It is filled with original antique furnishings, as well as art from the Fords' vast collection. Ford House also hosts popular events, including a Fairy Tale Festival in June, Detroit Symphony concerts in July and holiday tours and events in December.

When in Europe, people enjoy touring the impressive and luxurious residences of kings, queens and famous people...in America it's the homes of super wealthy that offer the alternative.
This home is as close to an English manor as you might be able to get on the North American continent.
To say the least, it is very authentic as the owners, Edsel and Ethel Ford, imported large amounts of the construction material from various century old manors in England.
It is definitely worth the some 13 miles, about 25-30 minutes, drive from downtown Detroit.
It will allow you to peek in to the private lives of the Fords and their genteel lives of splendor.
There is beautiful art, but most are replicas of famous originals that can be viewed at the Detroit Museum of Arts in Detroit.
The expansive grounds are serene and beautiful.
Detroit is alive and well worth a visit.

Looking to Solve the Case of the Perfect Party? Here's a clue! The Murder Mystery Company is the nation's most popular, interactive, mystery troupe.

Reviewed By johnlh - Southfield, Michigan

We visited the Murder Mystery Company for my husband's birthday. We were supposed to have early access ticket, there was no early access. The doors open and everyone was let in at the same time. We did not op for the gold circle experience. We did see the seating for the gold circle and there weren't any better than the general price seating. Food -The side dishes were heavy on carbs, with a salad that came with one choice of dressing and tasteless green bean with almonds tossed on top. The meat was a small chicken breast with some type of crust on top. Our waiter was aloof, never introduced himself to the people sitting at our table. Never asked if we needed anything or how our dinner was. There were three other couple sitting at our table and they were very nice. We really enjoyed their company. Play - The play required a lot of audience interaction with everyone in the room. As soon as we got our food they were rush us to eat and get up and start asking others in the room for clues. In the middle of our dinner, they told us time was up for eating and we should get up and have interaction. Were they crazy? When dessert was served (ice cream) the same thing happened. Needless, to say that wasn't going to work, ice cream melts. My opinion there was too much interaction with the people in the room, I can see interacting with the people at your table during your meal to discuss clues. But to try to interact with other people clear across the room during your meal was a bit too much. Food? - ok, nothing to write home about. Best part of the evening? - the conversation with the people we dined with. Play? - ok. Would I go again? - no.

Every year we board the Ovation for a charity event and it's always a great experience! From the Captain and deck hands greeting you as you board, to the wait staff that move stealth-like, it's a well oiled machine. Appetizers and dinner selections are delicious, fresh and easy to manage on a moving boat. The bite size desserts top off the food served. Several servers carry them on silver trays and describe each one. The cookie dough one is second favorite but the salted caramel one is to die for! Music is great, bartenders efficient and friendly. Take the ride...you won't be disappointed.

I was invited to a lunch bridal shower. The inside of the building is nicely appointed. The room was set up and decorated by the party hostesses. Looked very festive. There were about 70 people. Food provided by Andiamo.
It was a buffet. The hostess sent us table by table so there was no waiting in line. The food was hot and plentiful as the wait staff refilled as needed. We were offered Cuke salad, potato salad, rolls and butter, pasta in a red sauce, quiche, home fries, blintzes, a sausage veggie dish sweet rolls, muffins and fruit.

The food was plentiful and hot. Beverages were offered at the table. I would recommend this venue for any large party.

Super fun outing with three girlfriends! We did the zombie room and while we didn't get out, we found three keys. Highly recommended for groups and families, although some questionable language in clues for those under 18. Zombie room is best with larger sized groups (8-10). Well organized, clean location, and friendly staff!

Fraser Hockey Land

Reviewed By GardenShore99 - Chicago, Illinois

Scheduled here for a hockey tournament. 5 Rinks. Very busy place. Ice OK, soft in one rink (Dasani) but they corrected it quickly by turning off the heaters. Was acceptable by the second period. Rink Lighting fine. Scoreboard fine.
Spectator seating is not located great in most of the rinks. Locker rooms fine. Small game in the lobby area for siblings needing to kill some time was appreciated but selections are dated. Bathrooms very dirty, missing toilet paper--seemed to have been ignored for hours. No parking lot lighting whatsoever when we were there which was problematic and unsafe, due in part to the odd parking layout. Very large pro-shop. Concession stand stocked with the usual. Decent coffee but very slow service. It is faster to go to McD's down the road and come back.
