S’ABBA FRISCA PARK-MUSEUM A dip into the past to rediscover identity. S’Abba Frisca park-museum takes its name from our Freshwater spring. The itinerary has two themes: natural and ethnographic, woven together in one journey. The museum has more than 4,000 items from farming and grazing life in 15 locations. The guided visit winds through plants used in folk medicine, dyeing and construction, among Fountains, cascades and giant-stone pathways. Here there are mallard and other ducks, water hen, and tortoises living in water and on land. Among the museum buildings, there is the shepherd’s hut built more than a century ago of basalt blocks and juniper wood, copying the circular form of huts typical of the Nuragic era. Also: the enclosure for goats; the farmer’s courtyard with grindstone turned by a donkey; the blacksmith’s courtyard with bellows from the 1800s. Bedrooms with storage chests from the 1700s; the room for spinning and weaving with antique looms; clothing of times gone by for daily life and festive occasions; armaments, jewellery and musical instruments. The itinerary finishes in the kitchen for Sardinian breadmaking, where the secrets of this shepherds’ bread are revealed.

We were recommended a visit to S'Abba Frisca by locals and were not disappointed.
We drove up from Cala Gonone through some stupendous scenery between vertiginous Mountains and beautiful sunny coves.
We were greeted by Marcello who took us round in a small party, alternating fluently between English and Italian.
The artefacts are beautifully preserved and further restoration is ongoing. Marcello explained vividly the history of the buildings and contents and highlighted specific items such as the mask used to wean calves!!
Afterwards Marcello was happy to chat over a drink and provide further insights into life in Sardinia.
Altogether a most enjoyable experience. Even the donkeys are friendly

We visited the museum this July with our three kids. We first watched a nice video that explained a bit of the Sardinian history that made me a bit emotional as this is my history too. The museum itself was very interesting, the masks can be a bit dark... Nice to visit while touring around that area.

I like the white sands and the fact that the beach nearby the hotel so I don't need a car . Next the beach they is a shop for clothes and beach stuff . Resturant and cafe shops .

Amazing place with fabulous views. Redentore statue is absolutely amazing. I highly recommend this place to visit - especially at sunset. If you are sensitive, you will love this place! There is a very strong attractive power!
You can either go by car to the summit of Monte Ortobene, or you can go up on foot. The path leads through the woods and is well signposted.

I was very interested to hear of an exhibition of the recently discovered work of a US street photographer from New York. Unfortunately, the information was out of date and that exhibition had finished last year. Aside from this disappointment the exhibits were well presented and of some interest. €5 entry

We'd visited the harbour the day prior and saw that most of the excursions for the Grotta only (rather than mini-cruises of the caves and other Beaches etc) left around 11am. So we walked down to the harbour about 10.30am and paid €20 each for return trip. The boat ride on the way out was fairly full, but was a large boat with two floors, and plenty of shade and tables/seats. Very pleasant boat ride to the caves, where you were greeted and tours offered in English and Italian. You're advised at the outset its just short of a 2km walk - 1km into the furthest cave, and the same back again, taking about an hour in total. It's obviously a tad chilly in the caves, so worth taking a light jacket, jumper etc. You can leave your bags at the entrance with staff if you don't want to carry them. There is no photography allowed within the caves. The guide was very good, gave brief history of the caves. Very impressive to see the caves, the mirror like quality of the water, the stalactites and stalagmites. The return boat to Cala Gonone was less busy, and this time an open top boat, no shade but it was a lovely day with nice breezes so the shade wasn't needed. A nice outing for a couple of hours, and good value.

We got to this beach a little bit by accident, as I was looking for Berchida beach, but we did end up at Capo Comino instead.
What a paradise!
There is a grove of trees not far from the beach, where you can have a picknic if the sun is burning to hot.
The beach itself has a lightgrey very soft sand.
There are some rocks, but wide streches give easy access to the sea and it is not getting deep to quickly, so very well suited for children.
No services are offered, so bring food, drinks and beachequipment aplenty, as you will want to spend a lot of time here.
On the other hand you do not pay for parking or entry...
We really fell in love with this place and will come back the next time we will be on sardegna!

nice place. popular in locals, who use this park as a grill bar. next to the beach there is a pine wooded section, what is the place for cars, and place for locals who picnic there, they bring little households there, with mobile tables chairs hammocks tents mobile fireplaces.
good squid sendwiches in the bar!

Visited here for a second time, 39 year gap between visits! Interesting murals painted on walls in village. Well worth a visit and it is free. The place is a lot busier than it was 39 years ago but there are plenty of photo opportunities. Coupled this with a Shepherd's lunch in the local mountainous olive groves.
