San Benedetto market

This open-air market in Sardinia's principal city is noisy, busy, colorful and lots of fun.

Loved this place - sights, smells, bustle, amazing food! Mix with the locals and spend a fraction of what you would in a restaurant .. we loved buying up lots of little portions of Salami, breads and cheeses (you can also try first !). The seafood market is out of this world.. market sellers very friendly and patient with our rubbish Italian and will throw in a freebie or bargain. Great for photographers too!

Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Cagliari

The Archaeological Museum is part of the National Archaeological Museum of Cagliari, a MiC institute with special autonomy since 2019. The Museum is located in the ancient Castello district within the Citadel of Museums which was built between 1956 and 1979 designed by architects Libero Cecchini and Piero Gazzola with the recovery of the royal arsenal and medieval walls. The archaeological collection includes over 4,000 artifacts that tell a long history of almost 7,000 years, from prehistoric times to the early Middle Ages, from Neolithic mother goddesses to Nuragic bronzes, from Phoenician and Punic jewels to Byzantine cult objects.

Museum covers everything in Sardinia from Neolithic age (brilliant carved statues from 6,000years BC) through Bronze Age (Nuraghic period), to Roman times. It has descriptions in italian and english. Our favourite pieces were the Neolithic statues and tools, the amazing giant statues (Giganti Di Prama) and Bronzetti (beautiful small Bronze statues) from the Nuraghic Bronze age, the stele from 800yrs BC with the first example of Western writing, the Roman jewelry and roof tiles recovered from a sunken ship. We went on a quiet day off-peak and had the place to ourselves. We spent 3hrs there, and still needed to go back another day. Only down side, there is no cafe, just a drinks machine.

lovely beach, one of the most beautiful I visited on Sardinia. perfect sand , beautiful view and cristal clear water. just a bit unlucky that it was windy the day we came there so umbrella was not an option, but staying there for long without shadow was not an option either. but if we'll go to sardinia again, this one is definitely on the list!

Punta Molentis Beach _ Due Mari The place is very crowded and you want to benefit from the few sunbeds and umbrellas available here, you must arrive until 9:30 AM, parking costs 10 euros for the whole day and you have to walk from the beach ~ 5 minutes The price for 2 sunbeds + umbrella varies from period to period, we paid in June 30 euros but you can come with your equipment. There is a 1 euro toilet and a bar where you can drink and eat. The water and the landscape at the top of the hill make you not sorry that you came here .

Porto Giunco

Just passed Villasimius Porto Giunco sits between two bays covered with Juniper (ginepro) plants on the rocks, extending plies waters and white sands. Next to timi AMA resort, parking costs €5 for the day and it is guarded. Disappointing however is the elegant restaurant on the beach with no swimming suits allowed in, the lido charges 70-100 euros for two sun lounges and parasols, too expensive but it is worth it. Bring your own food and take your litter to the bins or home, please respect such beauty to remain clean. A must see in Sardinia! Walk on the shallow waters and explorer the rocks with camera to be amazed.

Stayed in Cagliari over October and loved this beach - so few crowds at this time of year and still belting sunshine (much appreciated by us Uk dwellers in deep dark autumn). Easy bus ride on bus PF from piazza Matteotti in Cagliari. Several bars, places to rent SUPs and usual characters on the beach selling towels and beads. Gorgeous blue waters.

Bastione di Saint Remy

Reviewed By grahamc894 - Dunton Green, United Kingdom

Most tourists visit the Bastione from Piazza Costituzione which is in the accompanying photo. Ideal, but it has 145 marble steps to the top in 5 different stages. Take your time and look at the views as you go . From the top through the Arch, you will be so glad you made the effort as an enormous open space with ample seating and fantastic 360 panoramic views of Cagliari especially the old town and port. No trip to this city is complete without a visit to Bastione di St Remy...... and after the decent to the Plazza there are many bars to quench your thirst.
