Praia Fluvial do Vergancinho

A great place to enjoy sun and pool environment. Great landscape to refresh yourself on the hot summer days. Near Cardigos (Macao district), a small town in Portugal, you can do a small picnic, refresh yourself or take some sun in a countryside landscape.

Portas do Rodao

Reviewed By Lynherlynda - Arronche

The portas do Rodao are the two huge granite outcrop that narrow the Tejo river at this point. The outcrop on the south is home to a few dozen pairs of Griffon Vultures. On the north side of the bridge over the river take the minor road which crosses the railway trck. yu can stop just beyond this and walk to the tower which is called both Castelo Rodao and Castelo do Rei Vamba. If you walk it is 1.2km steeply uphill. You can take a very winding road up to the tower an there is a small parking area. In front of the tower is a viewing platform which gives amaing views along the Tejo. If you return to the bridge and then go in Velha do Rodao and turn right down to the river there is a cafe and the opportunity to take a boat ride along the river. We were there in March and no one was operating but one notice indicated that there were tours on Tuesday and Sundays or you could inquire in the cafe. Would make a great day out with vulture watching and boat trip.

Found out about this tandem skydive while at the tourist office. Decided on this over the Douro Valley tour and did not regret.
Took a train ride to Paramos and short walk to the aerodrome. The jump masters Pietro and Eladio were unassuming and put us at ease. The plane took off and at 4,000m, we leap out on a free fall, parachute deployed, all this on the Atlantic coast of Portugal and the view was simply great and landed on our bumps right in front of the aerodome!
We are glad to have done the skydive with Skydive Europe Porto.
Oh yes, the Restuarant Helice beside the aerodome, serves nice arroz de marisco and chicken soup which was delicious especially after the great experience.

Praia Fluvial de Froia

Reviewed By Teresa R
