The 10 Best Things to Do in Port Blair, India

August 16, 2017 Natalie Tallman

Floating 780 miles across the Bay of Bengal from Kolkata, this port city in the Andaman archipelago is the splash-down point for the Mahatma Gandhi National Marine Park. Diving, snorkeling and glass-bottom boat trips provide views of rare corals and marine life. On shore, family-friendly Gandhi Park offers amusement rides and a nature trail. Nearby Viper and Ross islands contain historical remnants of British rule, while Corbyn's Cove has remains of Japanese bunkers at its palm-lined beach.

This is very very mesimerizing Island and the scenic beauty, the clear waters will stay in your mind for a very long time.
Things To Do in 3 he's you will be given
*Snorkeling - I rate this 10/10 - Anyone can do ( My 51 yr old mom, non swimmer did it)
* Glass bottom boat ride - there were 3 package, INR 300, INR 600 AND 1000. We did the 1,000 one totally worth every penny. It was for 1hr 10 mins. The guy explains name of every coral, showed us millions of fishes , sea cucumber, star fish .. u name it and u see it in those Crystal clear water
* Pose n chill in the island under nice shahed trees
*Swim n play in water which has no waves at all
I visited this place with my mom , a friend and friend's Mom. So we were 4 ladies. It's absolutely safe all over Andaman, I have strongly believed that Andaman has Zero crime rate. Now facts about Jollybouy.
We left Port Blair around 7am , had asked the hotel guys to pack our break fast as we don't have time to eat. It was a drive for around 20-30mins to reach Wandoor Jetty. Here you have 2 queque, one to entry the boat Jetty and the other to buy water bottle. Plastics are not allowed strictly. Jollybouy is open 6 months in a year n we are at the right time there. I m not sure how Redskin is!! We gave INR200 deposit per water bottle,INR 195 was refunded. We had planned well n carried lot if snacks n packed breakfast.
Once we took the boat, for around 25-30 mins we were sailing through many small small Islands and reached Jollybouy. During this boat ride complete breifing abt things to do in Jollybouy will be explained. There is no Jetty in Jollybouy hence once we reach, we will be moved to a glass bottom boat ride for 10 mins free coral seeing and then we get off the island( it's totally tempting for more hence we took the 1000 per head package to see more corals n fishes).
After reaching the island .. we took a walk around this very very small yet beautiful island , had our breakfast and then did snorkeling.
The snorkeling staffs were very very professional n kind. They again explained us name of fishes n corals.. took us around for 20 mins and got back. This was for INR 300( Totally worth it). Snorkeling is also available for 600, 1000. I regret not doing them.
There is changing room n one toilet. There were building a row of toilets wen i was there hence nxt time there will be better facilities.
There was one small snack counter. We had our own food so dint try them.
PLEASE DO NOT LITTER, DO NOT CARRY ANY TYPE OF PLASTIC.

The beach is well maintained. Due to crocodile sightings it was prohibited to enter the water during our visit. The water is very shallow and you can easily go 60-70 metres from the beach into the water. There are no food stalls for lunch, so you should carry your lunch in case you want to relax during the afternoon and take a siesta on the beach. It is a good beach for relaxing.

Chidiya Tapu is Sunset point , we left Port Blair at 3pm and reached by 4pm. The drop point was Munda Pahad Beach. Beautiful Nature Friendly Park plus Beach. We spent an hour there ( definitely wanted to be there for very long time, perhaps I will spend full day there next time). At 4.50 we started towards the sunset point which around 500 mtrs from Munda Pahad.
The spectacular view is very mesimerizing. Many Mountains around + Water / Ocean around + Sunset spreading colors.
It was amazing and definitely must visit.

North Bay Island Andaman

Reviewed By gpradeepshenoy - Bengaluru, India

This beach is for water activities.
There are private ferry's which take tourists to North bay Island from Junglighat Jetty and from Abeerdeen Jetty. We took ferry from Abeerdeen Jetty to North bay Island. Ferry's go to two Islands Ross Island and North Bay Island and costs Rs 580 per person. The boat journey from Abeerdeen jetty to North bay Island will be about 15 Minutes. We will be given two hours in North bay island.
North bay island is a crowded beach with many water activities. As we could not do Scuba at Neil Island we did Scuba here and the experience was just OK. I feel scuba will be better in Neil Island than in north bay. For using toilets we have to pay Rs 10.00 and the toilets i guess cannot be maintained in more filthy way than i saw here. Avoid toilets here.If the ferry first goes to Ross Island use toilets there as it is cleaner and maintained well in Ross Island.North bay does not have a proper place to eat also and shacks will be overcrowded. So if you plan to visit North bay/Ross Island plan to come here early and plan to have lunch at Port Blair.
An Ok beach to visit while at Port blair..
