The 10 Best Things to Do in Pinellas Park, United States

September 22, 2017 Rebbecca Marino

Pinellas Park is a city located in central Pinellas County, Florida, United States. The population was 49,079 at the 2010 census. Originally home to northern transplants and vacationers, the hundred year old city has grown into the fourth largest city in Pinellas County, the most densely-populated county in Florida. The city and surrounding areas are almost completely urbanized. Pinellas Park contains a substantial portion of the "Gateway" area of the county, targeted for future infrastructure, residential, and commercial development as it sits roughly in the middle of the Tampa Bay area's over two million people. Though technically land-locked, its borders lie only a few miles from Tampa Bay to the east, and Boca Ciega Bay and the Gulf of Mexico to the west. The city is known for its popular equestrian facilities and events, and many residents also participate in fishing and water activities in nearby venues. On Park Boulevard, the city's oldest street and primary thoroughfare, one can find anything from produce stalls and flea markets to high-end luxury vehicles.

I went here with the local Audubon society for bird watching but not only saw birds but lovely butterflies, marsh rabbits and even a couple of alligators. The trails were all very nice and there was plenty to see and enjoy. There were people having picnics and enjoying bike riding, walking, running and playgrounds that looked fun for kids.

Clean, beautiful white sand beach. Rentals for chairs, umbrellas, kayaks, paddle boards. Restroom facility can be crowded and a little gross after a busy day. Snack shop is expensive but to be expected. We crossed the street and got slices of pizza and drinks and snacks at 7-11. We enjoyed walks and looking for shells as well as just enjoying a beautiful day.

I took my family here to celebrate my 60th birthday. This was my favorite day! I loved watching my grandchildren see the beach for the first time! This beach is very clean!
We rented chairs and umbrellas from a very nice college age man.
There are many good and drink options all within a short walk.
They have free clean bathrooms.
They also have a giant water slide for a small fee.

Tampa Bay Automobile Museum

This is an incredible collection of antique autos, mostly 20s and 30s but one from, get this, 1770. It's a steam-powered cannon carrier repro. Lots of French, German, even Czech autos, all in working order, all currently licensed, all (except the couple being restored) in showroom condition. Two very knowledgeable docents (Bob and Gary), next door to the PolyPak factory, whose owner M. Cerf has put this window into history before us. There are only a few American cars, contrary to most of the antique car museums I've been to here in the U.S. I had little idea of the depth of the auto industry outside the States-- this collection sure fixed that. Fascinating historical trivia from the docents (be sure to ask about the origin of the Mercedes brand, or the rear-end of a '51 Chevy... trust me on these. Plus, the building is energy self-sufficient, topped with solar panels. This one is entirely worth a side trip for any classic car enthusiast, I'm still in a bit of awe the next day.

This theatre is very small but not cramped, just intimate. We love the talent that is here and the performances never disappoint. They do serve drinks outside just before you enter the theatre and snaks, there are also restrooms that are clean for use. If you are late you will have to wait to enter as they will not let you disturb the scene that is being performed which is a good thing, nothing worse than trying to see the performance to have people parading in front of you making you miss it.
