Andy Romano Beachfront Park

This would be a wonderful park anywhere, but it's location on the waterfront makes it extra special. There are plenty of tables and barbecue pits, a water fountain for kids to play in as well as a regular playground, and restrooms that look like they were designed by HGTV. There are even fountains to wash off the sand after playing on the beach.

Ormond Beach

Look into Florida's racing past here.

Where do I start? The beach is clean with plenty of room to spread out without being on top of other sun bathers. The water is clear and the color is beautiful despite being on the Atlantic side of FL and not the gulf. There is parking permitted on the beach. There are lifeguards on duty in the summer. And BONUS - an ice cream truck came up and down the beach each day we were there. Plenty of spots to eat within driving distance as well as souvenir shops. We loved this vacation spot and will go back again.

Tomoka State Park

Reviewed By diaq - Palm Harbor, Florida

The park is beautiful, another wonderful example of the "real florida". A nice hiking trail and picnic areas. Great camp store well stocked with items. If you canoe, lots of canoe opportunities. They have a 1-mile paved trail, but you have to cross a busy street to access it. Aside from the ranger station/entrance the main roads in the park are all dirt. Not fun with small kids on bikes or rollerblades.

Bulow Creek State Park

Beautiful walking trails. Easy walk. Beautiful vegitation, views. Dogs allowed. Pretty busy so seems safer than if you were walkng alone. Although quiet and it seems remote while walking.
Heard locally to be certain to keep items in vehicles hidden and locked as Bicentennial park nearby has had a few breakins... smash window take valuables and go.
I walked through the gate where the sign is off Walter Boardman and went a little way up to find the path completely flooded... so turned around, met some young people who said to walk ont he other side of the main road (Walter Boardman).. wow, there is a trail to a lookout which overlooks the marshy area and all the birds. THen if you walk further up the main trail, past a field (which is powerlines and beautiful views) keep going, you come tot he creek, I assume BULOW Creek. The trail goes along side the creek. What a peaceful beautiful walk! Loved it so much, came back the next two days and did the same walk!

Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church

Reviewed By Jim M - Lake Orion, Michigan

The pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes name escapes me right now but he's theologically brilliant. We were there for the Lenten mass where Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead. This pastor did an excellent job of making this gospel relevant to the congregation's lives.
