Bengtson's Pumpkin Farm

Bengtson Pumpkin Farm is the premier fall festival and Pumpkin Patch in the Chicagoland area. Established in 1980 the Bengtson family was selling their pumpkin crop to the public from the family farm. Over the past 37 years the farm has come to include one of a kind attractions that have families returning year after year. Our farm has food options that are most easily described as award winning, not your typical festival food. Unlike many other farms and festivals these days Bengtson's admission includes unlimited access to all the rides and activities. One low price for an entire day of fun. There are many options when it comes to pumpkin patches but Bengtson's is the only choice. Our farm is the highest rated and most reviewed farm you will find. The largest corn box play area anywhere, the all new Cow Spin Coaster, all paved walkways so even the newest members of the family can enjoy the farm from the stroller. Bengtson Pumpkin Farm is an experience like no other.

This place is one stop if you have children and need pumpkins. They had carnival rides, food, music, hayrides, even pig races. My grandson loved this corn pit, its like a big sandbox only filling with corn kernels. He was doing cannonballs and snow angels. They could use more changing stations for babies, but it’s all outside so just wing it. On the way out we got some donuts, pumpkins and kettle corn. Fun for the whole family. Weekend are crowded, just a FYI.

Lake Katherine Nature Center

Reviewed By EJJourney

Lake Katherine is a botanical garden in Palos Heights, right off Rt 83 near 76th that includes woodlands, prairie, wetlands, and formal gardens. There is a nature center that is fun to check out, a mile loop walking trail around a ten acres lake. I rented kayaks for 2, single but they also have canoes, and double kayaks for rent. There are workers who give you life jacket, brief kayaking tips, and help you get in/out of the water. No escorted. Calm waters. We saw heron, geese, ducks, turtles, and fish. Very pleasant. I reserved ahead (very easy with phone call) and was glad.. Some people came in as we were there and asked about renting a kayak... No luck, they were all booked up. The nature center closes @4, so that is the latest you can kayak. Free parking. You can bring a picnic lunch if you want. Beautiful grounds. They also rent out for events.
Tomorrow is the Butterfly Festival. Lots of things to do check out the web site. Kid friendly. Bathrooms on site.

Swallow Cliff Stairs

Reviewed By carole c - Groton, Connecticut

Built in 1930 by the Civilian Conservation Corps, the 125 limestone stairs brings one to the 800 acre preserve full of trails, waters and wildlife. Be sure to pause near the railing at the top to view Chicago's skyline. The Boy Scouts installed a ring "counting" system for those that want to track their rd trip jaunts on the stairs. My daughter told me that some still prefer the stacking of stones on the ledge for their count. A concession bldg. on the ground level offers food, beverages as well as a warming area and restrooms. The phone number for the concessions is 800-870-3666; it appears to be seasonal. The stairs are not wheelchair accessible. Considerable parking but beware this tends to be a very popular attraction.

Hailstorm Brewing Co.

Reviewed By GoatWhacker - Midwest USA

I've been here several times. Located in an industrial park and the interior has an industrial feel with pretty spartan plastic tables and chairs. Lots of barrels that I assume are full of aging beers. High ceilings, exposed ducts, etc. Seems to have people of all ages and has sort of a community feel.

Dog-friendly, maybe a little too friendly as some of the dog owners don't keep an eye on their dogs at times.

I have had no problems with the service. Even when it's busy the bartenders are efficient, and I don't think I've ever waited more than a minute or two to get a beer. They have various food trucks on weekend evenings, but this place is focused on the beer. They have several styles available and I have been happy with almost all of them.

I give them 5 stars since what they do, they do very well. This is a place to go drink great beer.

We are so lucky to have this beautiful entertainment center just a few miles away. The center features 2 theaters, one large enough to hold concerts, choral groups and top entertainers. There is plenty of parking (free) and they usually have light refreshments (coffee, sweets, etc) available for sale. The Art Gallery is usually open before and during the intermission.

After participating in the online contest to try and win Oak Forest a new dog park - what a surprise to find we came in 2nd place (still a great prize was awarded for 2nd!) I've since joined with my two brittany spaniels and they absolutely love the ungroomed areas and very large space they can explore. I like that it IS groomed in many areas so I can walk out an keep an eye on them while getting exercise for myself. I love this dog park.

18 Holes Of Indoor Cosmic (neon Lit) Miniature Golf With Small Concession/video Game Areas.

Reviewed By LilPig115 - Chicago, Illinois, United States

This place is great for kids. The golfing area is excellent and they have a great arcade. My boys (9 and 11) love going here with their grandfather. They always golf and then spend hours in the arcade, winning tickets. It is close to home and a very well run family owned business. The owner is always on hand and treats his customers with great respect. Highly recommend this place any time of year. Now that it is winter, Space Golf gives my boys a chance to have fun, in an amazing indoor environment. Definitely recommend this place to anyone with kids. Oh yeah, their kitchen is also pretty good.....Love this place.
