If you are travelling in Sweden during the "low season", please check dates and times for museums and other historical locations.
Enjoyed the history and the architecture of a castle that was built and remodeled over several generations. Walk the ramparts, stand on the foundations, enjoy the beauty of this castle.
Whether walking inside/through the castle or on either side of the canal, the views were unique.

F11 Museum

It is not the biggest and best museum, but the old men running it has gathered an intresting collection. Kids will love to run around and test the planes allowed for sitting in.
If you fly to Skavsta Airport, it is in the same area. Free parking (for the museum, not for flights :) )
Swedish history from the time we still had an army..
Free of charge, check openingtimes online since it changes a lot. They have a box for donations.
Sometimes they also have airshows with Jas 39 Gripen, Hercules, Tunnan and other.
Also free of charge.

Nynas Slott

An interesting old castle from the 17-th Century. Good guiding tours with an enthusiastic guide but with limited knowledge or not very good memory, but overall ok. This castle has passed many different phases over the years, now in the hands of the local Community. There are many(>40) Castles in this part of the country.
There is a cageteria or restaurant with simple but quite good food.
You should take your time and walk around and see the surroundings, very nice nature.
What I did not like was that there is no announcemnt that you are not allowed to take photos. This was mentioned when I had paid the admission fee. This should absolutely be annonced in the entrance hall and on the homepage!!!

definitely enjoyed touring the old churches in Sweden. One of the oldest. The ladies were very gracious during our visit. Always in awe of the history in these churches.
If you are doing ancestry searches, this is where you need to go if looking for a family name in the cemetery next to the train station.

If you want to walk the whole of Sörmlandsleden, it's around 1000 km long. However, you can of course pick a shorter walk and there are also circle routes to choose from. The trails are wellkept and wellmarked, there are shelters where you can sleep and arranged barbeque areas.
It's a great way to experience the nature of Sörmland.
