Catawba River Greenway

Reviewed By 218garryv - Morganton, United States

Morganton’s greenway is a wonderful stretch of paved walking/biking trail that runs along the river for several miles. It passes through shady and sunny areas, with gently curves and slight rises that make for an interesting stroll. There are several different places to park and gain access to the trail, most of which are also near playgrounds or shopping areas, and all of them are free. It was one of the many amenities that drew us to the community, and it is well used by all ages - safe and fun!

This is a quality collection of artifacts from Burke County which will take you from the civil war through the present day. It is wonderful how each room is beautifully organized. You certainly can see the amazing furniture which was manufactured in this area. I was particularly moved by the civil war exhibit and the tribute the the local helicopter pilot who lost his life on 9/11 at the pentagon. Plan a good hour to see everything!

This was our meeting place to take the Ridgeline Trolley on Blue Ridge Parkway up to Linville Falls. Beautiful fall tree colors. The Burke Center has lots of brochures on area. Very informative. This is only information center. I answered no on most of questions asked below. If you take the Ridgeline Trolley tour definitely wear athletic shoes.
