The 606 Market

Hello Everyone!! We would like to introduce ourselves. We are 3 sister-n-laws that own and operate The 606 Market. Chasida is our "Guru" in hunting down those antiques making custom orders, painting & restoring antique furniture. Amy is our "Artist" that not only can whip you a portrait in no time but also has excellent penmanship & teaches classes on art to adults and children. Monica is our "creator" repurposing items that may be destine for the junk pile, hand pours candles and also paints restores furniture. Several years ago, Chasida, Monica & Amy had a dream to open a brick and mortar store. All 3 of us girls have set up a Vintage Market Fairs & has had rental booths in stores that specialized in our products. Between the 3 of us, we all have our own style which complements on another. Our vision was to open up a brick-n-mortar store as well as an online store in which the customer can shop, learn and have an enjoyable experience.

Superman Statue

This was a fun stop. The Superman statue is huge and makes great photo ops. He is scheduled to be refurbished in 2021 so be sure he is there before you go. The Super museum is loaded with memorabilia and enjoyable. Very friendly staff and masks required. Be sure to see the Kryptonite and Lois Lane while in town. Bird man of Alcatraz grave is just north of town too. It was a fun little town to stop in.

Fun place to visit. So much memorabilia inside to see. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Masks required and use of sanitizer. We enjoyed it very much. Be sure to see Noel Neill (Lois Layne) statue and the kryptonite while in town.

Metropolis Lighthouse Hope Light

Reviewed By 671perlan - Fort Wayne, United States

Where there is light there is hope! It's sign says... This lighthouse is special because it was built in honor of fighting cancer. It's not as tall as other light houses I have visited in the past. It sits by the Ohio River next to the Harris Casino. It is in a park. If it works, I don't know. I just admired it while I was there. Easy way to get there is by exiting the casino, turn right, then turn right again on the first street. Pass the other hotel that is there. As you proceed on this street, it is going to curve to the left. Just drive on it and it will take you straight to the light house/ park. It is about a mile from the casino.

Big John Grocery Clerk

Reviewed By O6378WFannag - Park Ridge, United States

This Big John Grocery Clerk statue is actually larger than Superman statue in downtown Metropolis! Big John in Metropolis is a hulk, carrying car-sized bags filled with groceries in the parking lots of its food store. It is about 28-30 feet tall fiberglass statue. Many Big Johns (when store goes out of business), were re-purposed. But this one in Metropolis is still located at the Big John grocery store. Right now Big Johns are rare; only about eight are known to be in publicly accessible places. And this one in Metropolis is one of them. It is well-kept specimen at the local Big John store, but he's often overlooked because the Man of Steel (Superman) is located nearby in downtown Metropolis. Due to their scarcity, Big Johns are sought after by collectors.
