So glad our 3-generation family group stopped at this forge and storefront. Almost as we opened the door, a man welcomed us inside and offered to show us the forge with artisans at work. They happened to be making hammered aluminum Pittsburg Steeler and Cleveland Browns items, as they recently began producing NFL logo goods. You can see the scope of the warehouse and watch craftsmen working behind protective clear enclosures, each adding their signature mark to the pieces they make. There’s also a lovely Wendell August Forge history area with special pieces and related memorabilia on display, including letters from famous customers. This all takes less than 15 minutes, though you can linger if you choose. One truly fun and FREE feature is an area where visitors can make their own hammered metal imprint on a thin aluminum sheet that fits in a greeting card with envelope. Several designs to choose from, and easy to do by pounding the thin metal taped to a raised design die using a rubber mallet. And FREE! We enjoyed browsing the sizable store and choosing a few items for souvenirs and gifts - ornaments, metal bookmarks, metal coasters, accessory trays, holiday and everyday serving trays, and more. I found some bargains in the discontinued items section, too! Stop by!…you’ll be glad!

A gem in the Allegany Mountains. A challenge for all levels; bring more than one sleeve of balls; risk/reward holes abound. It is a course that you enjoy playing over and over again, 36 a day if you wish. The front nine holes are mostly gently sloped while the back nine holes have more elevation variations - lots of fun. Park your vehicle until it's time to leave - enjoy home style meals in a family friendly atmosphere. The restaurant and bar and some of the accommodations are in the restored barn from the farm of long ago, a place of interesting character. We always bring snacks to enjoy outside while overlooking the golf course. Our group has been making the trip (8Hours) for more than ten years and we always look forward to our time away where, like on CHEERS, everybody knows your name.
