Govardhan Hill

Reviewed By Narendra S - Hyderabad, India

The Goverdhan temple is bang on the road side, so be careful when you cross the roads Also be careful about the Cows and oxen, though they are not aggressive, some times, they suddenly start running, or something in your hand or dress would attract /irritate them, and would come charging at you.
About the hill, well, i couldn't see a hill, but yes small rocks are seen in some parts when you do the parikrama, a 21Kms circle around the hill. People walk, or cover the entire length by prostating on the path, or go around in a cycle rickshaw or an auto . It is said that a parikrama of the hill is compulsory. some also do the entire parikrama with milk dropping on the roads .be ware of the priests in the temple who will sweet talk you into donating more than what you had decided before entering the temple. be stubborn and clear. God will not punish you if you dont follow the priests demands. your faith and your pockets are your own, not others.

Lovely temple. Was not crowded. Interestingly the entrances have a different kind of architecture (a North Indian type of dome) . Once you cross that, it is fully like a South Indian temple/ There is a Lord Ranganatha on Shesha Naag and a Lord Ganesha temple inside. Its huge, very clean and was not crowded. There is also a large car park. Definitely a must visit for all.
