Tres Reyes Marine Sanctuary

Was here 26Oct2019 with wife and kids. we rented a boat 1500php to bring us to tres reyes islands. We first stopped by the gaspar island and bought fish and with the help of the boatman. we asked the helpful old lady with the store to cook the fish for us with rice. total cost 385 php, we gave her 600 php for the effort. The beach was full of crushed corals. Literally the entire beachfront. Water was very clean because very few people lived on the island. good for swimming. There was an area of white beachfront with cottages good area for swimming. we went, or tried to go to the 3rd island, weather was fine sunny when we started. But lo and behold before we reached the 3rd island the sea became so rough the boatman decided to turn the boat around. There have been stories that this island is inhabited by engkantos and if they dont want people going to this island thats why the rough sea swells all of a sudden. We turned back to the first island where we inihaw na isda for lunch with freshly cooked rice. Ah, life in the province at its finest. The kind old lady who cooked our food joined us in the cottage when it suddenly rained so hard that we could not see the main Marinduque island, rained hard for 30 minutes. The old lady had stories about chinese dragon painted plates on a sunken ship between the island and the main island where divers and yachts retrieved it and stuff, and about a cave in the island that causes people to go insane etc.. but thats another story for another time. Visit the island if you want first hand stories of these things from the kind old lady.

Boac Cathedral

Reviewed By Victorianlad - Melbourne, Australia

This Cathedral is a very large, impressive one with attached belfry. It is set high on a hill, overlooking the river, in well maintained, attractive grounds with a statue of Jesus, His Most Sacred Heart to one side. There is a centuries old huge wall around that allegedly protected the townsfolk from Muslim invaders after prayers to Our Lady by local Catholics were answered. It was very serene inside and good to pray. In recent tears it has has evaporative airconditioners installed. Please donate to the Parish Office to assust with running costs and capital expenditure.
