What can I say about this place that hasn't already been said? It's pure Heaven for both motorcycle and motorhead enthusiast alike!
The only thing I can add to the already excellent reviews is that I got a chance to meet the great granddaughter of George Wagner, the owner of The Wagner Motorcycle Company (1901-1914). Clara Wagner, George's daughter and this woman's grandmother was a pioneer in women's motorcycling. She was the first documented woman motorcyclist. Certainly meeting a descendant of this family was a highlight of my trip.
Truth is.... I can't wait to go back to see the many things I'm sure I missed the first time through this trip back in time.

I've hiked Waterrock Knob with my in-laws and my grandchildren and they made it to the top. There is a stopping point partway up with an area to rest and look out over the mountains. The last part of the hike narrows to a rocky path but it is worth the views at the top. The parking area has restrooms and picnic tables overlooking both sides of the mountain. A great place to stop even for non-hikers.

Soco falls is located right off of the road between Maggie Valley and Cherokee. You literally pull off of the road and walk down.
It is not an extremely easy climb to the viewing platform, but it’s not super hard either. You definitely need to be careful as it is steep and I would think most of the time it is wet.
I did it with an ankle injury and I am very overweight. I did have wife to help me. I would not do this alone. Once at the viewing platform you can down to the bottom of the falls. My wife and 18 year old did it. You have to use ropes. I think it looks dangerous but many people did it.
The parking is on the side of a mountain road. If it is full you will have to drive a ways to turn around and come back to check for a spot.
It is really beautiful and worth all of this though. I would recommend it.

It snowed the night before so good for natural snow and skiing, but not as good for getting up the mountain to ski. It got a little scary ( for me) going up, but we made it. The parking lot attendant said not the worry - with the sun and everything the road would be bare going back down ( and it was). I had found a deal that was awesome - free skiing lesson ( no I do not ski), equipment and lift ticket all fro $59! There were 3 of s getting the lesson ( the man with with had only one 1 ( himself) in his free boarding lesson. Our instructor - Sandi was very encouraging and patient and we enjoyed her lesson. The lesson lasted 90 minutes and started at 9:30. They have a started hill with a "magic carpet" that takes you up the little hill for the lesson. We took the first lesson of the day and it was a week day. After the lesson I spent the rest of the gorgeous day, but cold one ( 22 and sunny) on the "easy" hill. The car lift was not busy and made for lots of runs down the hill. If there were more than a fw waiting to go down - I would wait. I wanted the hill with as few people as possible - less chance of collision. I don't know much about ski areas, but as the day progressed the snow underneath was more like ice pellets and I began to slide more. The deal allowed us to ski from 9-4 and we were all done around 3:00. The road was bare going down as promised. I hope to be able to do this again next year. It was lots of fun. The earlier in the day the better. Gear - you first have to get your ticket, then your boots. Those are in the same building. Your skis are picked up across the street. Locker rental for your shoes in 75 cents in the boot area. ( Once locker is opened again you will have to pay 75 cents again to re-lock) There is a plan to eat there, but we did not. It is about 4 miles from the road in town to the top of the hill. There is really not much parking at the top - at least I did not think so.)

If you like learning about how things are made, this 20 minute tour is for you. Very knowledgeable and friendly owner/operator gave our 20 person multi-family group a great tour. For $5 you get samples of their products and a souvenir glass of your choosing. We all did the tour and the adults did the sampling and we all bought something. The vodka is distilled 7 times and was excellent. Flavored bourbon and moonshine were family faves. Worth the visit. Nice gift shop for unique items.

Kids of all ages enjoy tubing at Tube World. Located four miles from Cataloochee Ski Area, Tube World is located across from Ghost Town in the Sky in Maggie Valley, North Carolina. We are a perfect place for a family or group outing and offer tubing fun from mid-December to early March.

If you haven't been snow tubing, go now. For those of us that grew up sledding and tobogganing every winter, this brings back great memories. They have 8 lanes and start everyone simultaneously. As soon as everyone clears below, they start another round. This lets you race each other in adjacent lanes. At the bottom, you stop by slamming into an inflated barrier. A conveyor belt brings you back to the top. It's a little wet. A little dirty. You get banged up a bit. A lot of fun. $25 each for 1 1/2 hours of slamming fun.

Our GPS showed the building to be facing the main road through Maggie Valley but the Visitor Center is actually in a shopping center. We visited on Memorial Day and they were closed but had plenty of info available outside. We found what we needed.

We came to Maggie Valley celebrating our 10 year anniversary. First stop was this winery. We were not dissapointed. Chris (the owner) and winemaker is very knowledgeable and made our tasting very pleasurable. She had a variety of wines and accessories. Very cute, clean place. Loved the experience and of course bought plenty to take with us. Highly recommended!

Hillbilly Jack's Antique Mall is in the same building where Hillbilly Anne's Antique Mall used to be. They were still in the process of setting things up when we were there (they still had the Anne's sign on the building when I took the picture). It's hard to rate a place before it's all set up but from what was set up so far it felt more like a flea market than an antique shop. The booths that were set up were well organized and clutter free. I will definitely check them out again if we are in the area to see the finished product
