Chase ‘n’ Thyme Tours

Chase n Thyme the experience you never expected! There was a wonderful film from the 1980s “My Beautiful Laundrette” all about turning the chore of washing your clothes into an experience, fun and entertainment. We have very much based our journey on this theme, that surprise experience you never expected! If Lord Howe Island was a book it would have a glossy cover. Chase n Thyme is all about the many and varied pages of the book that makes its glossy cover. More that a tour, a journey from past to present, some fun, a photo or three, an education, a very unique experience and a treat at our home! If you want that feeling of “ticking all the boxes” you need to find out how it all came to be, Chase n Thyme, you have come along way to miss so much? Don’t take our word for it, no better recommendation than our guests and their comments on Tripadvisor. The island’s first tour inducted to Tripadvisor’s, Hall of Fame. Don’t leave without the Howe, what, when, where and why?

Lord Howe Island Walking Trails

Reviewed By vondpot - Broome, Australia

We have just had our second visit to the island and once again chose to spend a full day hiking the northern peaks. We are slow, the total kms for the day was about 12, but with much elevation, and descent. To stand on those northern cliffs of Kim's lookout and Malabar Hill with red- tailed tropic birds and Sooty terns soaring around and Infront of you is breathtaking, and so are the climbs. The steps are a bit challenging for short legs in some spots. There was a bit of scrambling up rocks, but that was minimal. The network of tracks on the island is outstanding and a huge part of its attraction. The descent down to North Beach will see some shakey legs at the bottom, but you will be rewarded with some great bird viewing, and then it is very easy stroll over to the Gulch. Take plenty of water, we took 6 litres, and got another 2 from the picnic shelter at North Beach. This is not for young kids, teenagers would be fine.
