Lacko Slott

Even though the tour is given in Swedish, I had a translater with us. They translated what was being said. Then after the official tour, the tour guide, stayed with my guests and I and gave us an extra 15 minutes of info about the castle, its residents and its history.
An interesting tour with pretty amazing artwork still preserved there. There are some old furniture items left there from back in the 15th century if I recall.
There's even a prison there which you can see where they kept prisoners. It's all located right on the shore of the very large lake.

Husaby Kyrka

Husaby Church is a lovely Romanesque church with a three-steeple stone tower that dates from the early 12th century. Inside, worth noting are a rare wooden screen from 1670, a 13th century Gothic triumph crucifix, a 13th century baptismal font, and a medieval altar. The 15th century vault was painted with frescos that were white washed and then reproduced in the early 20th century. The frescos in the apse are original.
We enjoy visiting older churches and are glad we happened on this one as we were looking for the Bronze Age stone carvings a few hundred meters to the east. The church is "on the way" from Stockholm to western Sweden (just off 44) and worth a stop if you're in the vicinity. I wouldn't recommend going far out of your way to find it, though.
When we were there, there was a rather long recorded narration of the church and its history in Swedish and then German, but not English (unless that had preceded the Swedish). There were small pamphlets about the church for sale in the major European languages, including English.

The place gives the impression of locally produced food, in reality most of the fish is imported from Norway and Denmark and is only smoked locally. Although it is a very nice place, it is in fact just a tourist attraction, in my opinion the place has nothing to do with locally produced or healthy food.

Maybe I'm a bit spoiled as I also live by a beautiful lake (Vättern) but this walk wasn't as great I expected from the other reviews (and I do like to walk!). It is almost 4 kilometers from the small car park area out to the tip. Most of that walk is on a forest-lined path so you don't see much of the shore except for one or two openings along the route. So it's mostly a forest walk really. Wear good walking shoes - it's not suitable for anyone who has difficulty walking as some of the walk is rocky and stoney. It is also extremely windy. It is only the very last 20-30 meters of the walk which is without trees and you can enjoy the lake - sit on a rock and have a drink of coffee (bring your own!).

Sigrid Storrada

Villa Giacomina Parken

Reviewed By Nonno H - Sodermanland County, Sweden
