This is classed as a black run, but in reality is a good red. Really enjoyed skiing down this long slope and the views are great at the top for skiers and pedestrians.

As a total skiing newbie, I can’t recommend JP enough. I had two 3 hour lessons on day one and two along with my partner (a keen snowboarder, but first time skier), and another newbie in our group. He was excellent at Reading the group’s ability from early on, and despite having to juggle time between us, he gave really actionable and personalised feedback and support. At the end of day two I’d done two of the beginner slopes a good few times and felt my confidence increasing, and my form slowly improving.
JP’s teaching style is great, if you perhaps aren’t getting something, he’s really patient at explaining, and will approach things in different ways - for me it was lots of counting and oranges & lemons!
I had a successful day 3 on my own, moving onto some different Blue runs in Les Arcs, but with the weather taking a turn on day 4, I decided to book another one-on-one session with JP as I was a bit apprehensive about skiing in poor conditions. I didn’t regret it, the session really helped me get more parallel in my turns, and he pushed me to not be scared to point the skis down the hill for longer and go a little faster. JP, you’d be proud - on day 5 I skied to Plagne Bellcote over in La Plagne, and even skied a red run! (It wasn’t fast, but it felt like such an achievement).
Thanks for teaching me to ski! I’ve definitely got the bug, and I can’t wait to get back on the slopes next winter.

Fantastic day out on snow shoes (raquettes) in the Mountains near Bourg St Maurice.
Our guide Antoine was superb. He picked us up from various locations (Arcs 1600, Arcs 1800 etc) in his minivan.
We then drove up into the Mountains on the other side of Bourg St Maurice and walked up a valley in the snow, over different terrain - woods, snow covered pasture. Great views!
We then had lunch in a lovely rustic cottage in the Mountains - Antoine prepared a great fondu, accompanied by other local foods and wine. My fellow walkers were a mix of British, French + Belgian. It was really friendly.
We then walked back down to the minivan (about 45 mins walk).
Antoine drove us back to our resorts.
Great day out in the Mountains - particularly for those who are non skiers and want to get out on the mountain, or skiers who fancy trying something a little different. Moderately strenuous (think going for a hill walk!) but you do not need to be 'superfit'.

As the title suggests this is not your average snowboard school - Annuka and Sebastien are incredible instructors! They are so passionate about snowboarding and this is what they specialise in, many other companies teach skiing and snowboarding is just a second thought....High Five only do snowboard lessons and they do them very well!!
My partner and I did a season in Les Arcs last year and we ended up booking lessons with them after getting fed up of the 'popular' 'big name' ski schools whose lessons weren't very good. We've had lessons from many resorts over the years and I can say without a doubt High Five beats them all by a mile!!
We had lessons as a pair and individually and with both Annuka and Seb and we had sooo much fun whilst learning so much. They are both lovely people too! Whether you are looking to improve your general riding or learn some tricks I can't recommend them enough!
As a female snowboarder it was also great having a female instructor, so if you are feeling self-aware or nervous as a girl on the mountain then Annuka makes you feel completely at ease! Sebastien is also a phenomenal snowboarder and very patient teacher, we feel very lucky to have been taught by them!
You get so much for your money too, 2 hours goes incredibly quickly however you cover sooo much stuff!
They can meet you anywhere in Les Arcs, we used to meet them in either Les Arcs 1600 or 1800 but if you are based in 2000 or Pesey they accommodate that too.
Really is worth the money.

For the sixth week running we booked our two girls (7 and 10) private lessons with ESF in Arc 1950.
We had asked for a female French instructor when we booked (nearly three months earlier) but were allocated a male.
To their credit they did try to source a female instructor and rang me within the hour to offer a different time to accommodate this but we wanted the 12.30 slot so pressed on. What a great decision. The instructor, Phillipe, was brilliant. Both girls really liked him and my youngest came on leaps and bounds.
So on to Val Thorens next and it will be ESF once again!

Really hard to find and then really badly run. Website said closes at 7pm we arrived at 6pm and were told the cashier was closed so we couldn't get in. Eventually as we had prepaid cards they decided we could go in. Website said there is a lane for serious swimmers, there isn't. This is a fun pool only.

Bowling La Station

Reviewed By Carin51 - London, United Kingdom

Visited most nights of our holiday, just turned up most nights and were able to play bowling or Pool. The pool is a good price at 12 euros for an hour. The bowling is expensive, especially when I didn't realise that the first game had ended and it rolled over to another game so 107 euro for bowling and a glass of wine, a beer and two cokes! however this place had a nice vibe and cool décor. Would recommend.

Arrived as a family group for an evening drink post restaurant meal. We were met with an inhospitable host who made it quite clear he was closing soon! How welcome! Fine - our money was spent elsewhere - plenty of friendlier bars in 1950! Luigi's is great and by far my favourite !
