Mountain Trail Litochoro - Prionia

Reviewed By theatregeek03 - New York City, New York

I recently hiked Olympus this August. I hiked up the Gortsia trail to the Christos Kakkalos refuge, then to Mytikas (the highest summit) the next day. Then I hiked down the Prionia trail with new friends :) the same day.
The Prionia trail is very nice. A lot of greenery and a shorter hike. However, the Gortsia trail, in my opinion, has much more stunning views and less rocks on the trail. It is about 6 hours to the plateau of the muses, however, the views are stunning.
I will say that as a beginner hiker, either trail is doable, however it is helpful to be in some sort of shape. Neither trail is very technical, however, endurance and uphill strength is required (legs, quads, core, etc.)
From the plateau to Mytikas, you will need to actually use your hands and feet to climb. Although it is not really difficult, you must be careful and watch out for falling rocks. The refuges will give you helmets.
I know this forum is supposed to be about the Prionia trail, but I didn't see anything about the Gortsia trail and it's really a gorgeous hike. Less crowded too! Prionia is nice also.

A long stretch of beach forming a sandbank with water on 3 directions. You can leisure there as it's pretty quiet, enjoy the view of the hills and Mountains behind you or swim in the cold crystal sea. You can also enjoy jumping in the waves that intensify on the tip due to the crisscrossing of the currents.

Church of Agia Paraskevi - Tempi

Reviewed By Lucian M - Constanta, Romania

Tempi Valley is a narrow gorge, making an easy connection between Thessaloniki and Larissa and from there, further to Athens. The gorge follows the Pineios River. The landscape is gorgeous and you may have a stop for relax in a place considered to be as a pilgrimage destination for Christians, especially Orthodox. This is the Church of Agia Paraskevi and the holly spring, its water helping mostly the eyes – this is what it’s believed.
You will know where to stop the car, because there are many others stopped already and you will notice also some stalls with souvenirs. You have to take down some steps, then to cross a suspended bridge over the Pineios River and here you are, in front of the church.
The church is a small one. It is very well maintained and clean. The holly spring is nearby, in a very narrow cave, with a descending slope, but not very deep into the rock. Anyway, I think the place is not recommended to claustrophobic people.
I visited the place several times in the last years and I enjoyed all the time for peace, beautiful nature and relax that I found there.
