Last Sunday I accompanied my teenage godson on the Street Photography Workshop. On meeting Daniel he made us feel welcome and very much at ease. Our group was small so my godson was able to ask questions and get advice on his photography. Although I was not participating in the photography myself what amazed me was how Daniel showed the group different perspectives of every day objects and situations making the photos so much more interesting. Dom was thrilled with the photos he took and our eyes have been opened up to the unlimited opportunities on the streets every day. There is no doubt that this course would be beneficial to all level of photographers. Thank you Daniel.

Troll Tours

Troll Tours is the most popular motorbike tour company in Sydney. Our trike and Harley motorcycle tours are a favourite amongst anyone looking for a thrill seeking day out! Covering Sydney, the Blue Mountains and Hunter Valley.

Reviewed By ExpatPlanters - London, United Kingdom

My wife and I went on a full day tour to the Hunter Valley with Trevor and his big yellow Harley Davidson trike.
It was an absolutely fantastic day touring the wineries, drawing open-mouthed stares from all kinds of people in cars and on foot: we had so much fun!!
In fact, as that Hunter Valley trip was way back in January 2011, and we were back in Sudney for the first time since then, we decided to book Trevor and his trike again this year - but to go to the Blue Mountains instead.
Another fabulous day!!
Trevor is very knowledgable about the places he tours to, and is able to avoid the most popular tourist areas for less crush but just as decent views - he'll still take you to the busy places if you like though!
You can either suggest your own itinerary or you can put your trust in Trevor to take you to the most interesting, idyllic, peaceful spots around - just discuss with him what you'd like to see and off you go!!
Trevor is a very safe and considerate driver, never exceeding the speed limit and always aware of road conditions and other vehicles. On the back of a Harley trike (if you're not used to motor bikes) you do feel exposed, but there's no need to worry - it's difficult to miss that big yellow machine driving near you!!
And on the day tours we went on, luch was included too - at a local pub or winery or cafe or whatever takes your fancy.
Would I recommend a Troll Tour? Absolutely, even if it's just an hour or so around Sydney.
Will I return? 100% yes!

Palace Norton Street

Reviewed By jgp333

Everyone loves the movies, but the experience of going isn't helped by the typically glitzy mega-barns around the place.
The Palace at Norton St is quite different. It was completely renovated not long ago, so the quality of sight and sound is right up to scratch, but the spaces are on human scale and the atmosphere relaxed and civilised. Finally, while it's not a far-out art cinema, you do find a very well constructed program offering interesting lower budget films mixed in with the usual Hollywood blockbusters. (They have a fantastic Italian Film Festival in September every year, for example, and live casting of opera from overseas from time to time).
This is my favourite cinema and always my first choice for a night at the movies.

Hawthorne Canal Reserve

Reviewed By Alys-Schatzi - Melbourne, Australia

It's good that Sydney has an off-leash dog park in the inner-west. And it's good that there is a grassed reserve alongside this Leichhardt stretch of the Hawthorne Canal.
Before the canal existed there was a natural tributary of the Parramatta River. One nineteenth-century name for it was Long Cove Creek. For practical industrial reasons the tributary was straightened and artificial banks were created; thus Hawthorne Canal came into being. The canal runs through Lewisham, Summer Hill, Haberfield and Leichhardt-Lilyfield. I used to live close to it in Lewisham. The banks there were inaccessible, weedy and ugly, and I envied people living in Darley Street Leichhardt near the nice long grassy reserve that had been created there. Years passed. The light rail passenger line and Hawthorne light rail station were created, and the reserve was developed as a dog-friendly park. Enjoy it and look after it, dog lovers!

Sydney Bus Museum

Reviewed By Stephen F - Sydney, Australia

Remember the good old days, travelling through Sydney in the old green buses.....well, you can do it all again by catching an historic double or single decker from York St, Sydney out to the museum in Leichhardt. This is a volunteer run museum so you need to get on line to check opening times and bus schedules (every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month). $15 per adult includes the return bus ride so great value...get on board and enjoy a couple of hours travelling back in time to see the history of buses from early 1900's onwards.

Leichhardt Bowling & Recreation Club

Reviewed By Alistairds - Sydney, Australia

I've now been frequenting the Leichhardt Bowling for the last few years .
Great environment for family and friends to go and enjoy a reasonably priced meal and drinks and heaps more.
$5 social membership = great discounts at the bar!!
Pays for itself after a few rounds...
The 'Lions Den' restaurant has very accommodating staff,
Really amazing Asian/Western meals on offer for pickup/take away and dine in - at really good prises. Haven't had a bad meal yet.
Have booked this venue for numerous family functions for use of the facilities, and always had great feedback.
Weather permits, will often go out for a 'roll up' (Game of bowls) with friends at $10 pp. If you've never played before, one of the staff or locals will usually be around to show you how its done!
And if you like a punt, or just to watch a game of footy - they have a huge HD projector that shows all NRL and major sporting events in the front bar, and a comfortable TAB area.
The Club itself can be a bit difficult to find, but you can easily get the tram/bus to Catherine street and walk up in about 5 mins.
10 mins walk from Norton street.
I've been many times before, and will continue to do so while I'm in the area!

MarketPlace, Leichhardt

Reviewed By Star707 - Star707, Sydney

Here in this shopping Mall you will find all of the outlets that you might need: two supermarkets; classy green grocer and Italian food specialist; KMart; shoe shops; books; clothing boutiques; coffee shops; butcheries; children's toys jewellery; gymnasium; pet shop; luggage; Food Court; Two Dollar shop; banks; home wares; cakes. There is plenty of free parking. You can have your car washed, keys cut and dry cleaning done. I never get excited about this place. Even though everything I need is here, there remains something lackluster about it despite the many attempts to give it a facelift. Maybe it's because there is no real heart to the place, nowhere give it a sense of community, no gathering place where people can check each other out or make it seem like it is part of the community at large.
Free parking and clean toilets.
