Padar Island

To get there it is boat ride from Labuan Bajo - day trip possible but most go for a few days. Most boats aim to get to Padar for sunrise or sunset so it's busy. Ours arrived early and it was still hot so we climbed to summit earlier than most and then went down and climbed the other summit - which is a very narrow slippery treacherous track (which guides discourage) But, we did it discretely and were alone on this summit for sunset and avoided crowds at the top. Generally hot in middle of day and climbing summit would be very hard - so avoid unless cooler.

Kalong (Flying Foxes) Island

Pulau Koaba, which is also known as Kalong Island (Fruit Bat Island), is a low-lying circular island measuring 500 metres across and appearing to comprise a core of taller trees surrounded by dense mangrove. At dusk, the sight of thousands of bats leaving their roost and heading for their feeding grounds is a magnificent spectacle.

I'm in love with this place. I love fresh seafood and this place is in the harbour and boats sell directly to vendors daily. All fish eyes look healthy black, crab are live, cooked to tender tasty perfection. I went 2 nights in a row and will return tonight. Btw fresh large crabs are $12 CAD cooked. Can't beat that price, freshness and flavour!

first stop before explore other beautiful places in Komodo National Park territory. Beautiful small island with clear beach. We can climb the hill to get more beautiful scenery. The trail is steep and hard, but challenging. But it worth to climb because the view is stunning

Dhevon is a very reliable, friendly guide for Rangko Cave and other destinations from Labuan Bajo. He will drive you to Rangko village and arrange the boat to reach the cave where you can relax in the cool water. Dhevon also arranged an evening visit to Pulau Kalong to watch thousands of flying foxes fly at dusk (very tranquil) and a fabulous day visiting Padar, Komodo and various beautiful beaches. This was the third stop on our one day komodo trip and to see the komodos up close was excellent..the young ranger we had explained and answered all our questions on how the island and Komodos are managed. We also seen a lot of bids, butterfly's,wild pigs, deer and off coarse the dragons. There are different length hikes through the forest on the island so can chose what suits. Well worth the visit.

Batu Cermin Cave

Reviewed By vanadia7 - London, United Kingdom

I had quite low expectations of this cave based on the TripAdvisor reviews, and was expecting it to be a quick photo stop. Instead it was an in depth tour of the cave. The cave entrance is beautiful with hanging vines and tree roots. We were given helmets and had to crawl through parts of the cave which made it feel like an adventure. We saw fossils of coral, fish and even a turtle. There were several bats hanging from the ceiling, and even some bats flying around. Interesting stalagmites and stalactites. Lots of great photo opportunities. There is also umbrella rock to see on the way back to the car park. Be warned though, it can be very hot and we did get very sweaty, and there are mosquitos during the day here! Overall a fun quick tour and definitely worth a visit.
