The 10 Best Things to Do in Kolobrzeg, Poland

November 19, 2017 Kaleigh Reichenbach

On the south coast of the Baltic Sea lies Kolobrzeg, a rare combination of beachy atmosphere and medieval architecture. Founded during the Middle Ages, the city survived the Thirty Years’ War and an invasion by Napoleon, but was devastated by WWII. Today, it’s a seaside spa destination that is also popular with outdoor adventurists, particularly for biking the European Route of Brick Gothic. Visit the lighthouse overlooking the River Parseta, stroll the promenade along Kolobrzeg Pier, or visit one of the area’s many wellness centers.

Kolobrzeg Molo

Reviewed By Jan J - Warsaw, Poland

In January, we rented an apartment in the Villa Piaskowa, from Sun&Snow. It was right by the molo (pier) opposite the Bałtyk Spa Hotel. There was snow and winds of 100 km/hr. Taking a walk along the "molo" was interesting with the stormy waves splashing over our heads as we tried to keep on our feet. The seagulls propelled by the wind , wizzing past at super high speeds. The next day all was quiet. The sun broke through the clouds. The sea was calm and their was hardly any wind at all. We walked along to the end of the "molo" where the tame seagulls were almost eating out of the hands of people feeding them. There is a cafe at the end where you can have some warm mulled wine, tea or coffee and you can look back at the coastline where the beach was covered in white snow. Some people like the Mountains , but it's a great experience to be at the seaside in the middle of a stormy winter.Plenty of places to eat and walk , including the nearby port. There was even a man playing Amazing Grace on a trumpet at almost zero temperatures. I recommend a visit.(if you like the winter fresh air) We have already booked for next winter.

The port has a nice vibe to it, with shops, markets and restaurants nearby. There are pirate ships doing short trips out into the bay and a torpedo boat which can be visited. The lighthouse is nearby and the area is very picturesque.

Nice lighthouse which dominated the harbour area. I didn't go to the top as it was very crowded and I took the view that the reward probably didn't justify the effort. Well designed architecturally and impressive in size

The current Old Town district are only a few historic buildings. It is almost completely destroyed in 1945. Preserved building of the Cathedral (it was heavily damaged, but not laid to wastes), city hall, city gate and several granaries (port, railway station). An interesting project of reconstruction of the street grid behavior. Lots of interesting pubs, nice walking areas by the river.
On the other side of the railroad tracks district spa resorts, sanatoriums and rest homes. The well-developed accommodation and catering. Beautiful sandy Beaches, walking, biking and other activities. Sea water clean, but generally colder than in other regions. A well-developed public transport.
In the neighborhood Dzwirzyno resort with beautiful dunes. It starts from a luxury object the port and fishing village. Very interesting "path Sport" planned at the waist between the dunes. For children the opportunity to play on a sand dune - the "big" sandbox. Also an object of type "cowboy ranch."Easily accessible bus service of the train station
