People need to visit to see where our heroes rest. This is a beautiful resting place for our honored dead. They have great ceremonies where the public can participate such as Wreathes Across America where we attempts each year to cover every grave with a Christmas Wreath, or the Veteran's Day Ceremony.

Emerald Downs

Reviewed By KweqSmanit - Seattle, Washington

Emerald Downs is a fun and low cost way to spend the afternoon at the track.
I had a great time and it is an entertaining way to spend some time whether you are a master gambler or a novice going for your first time.

It is actually lower cost than going bowling or seeing an evening movie for two with popcorn if you only bet the minimum of two dollars a race and pick "show" on your bet.You will win just often enough to always get your money back through the day and this way you may continue to wager for an afternoon.
When you start at 1pm at the first race and leave at 6pm and divide your total money you spent divided by the number of hours you were there it becomes cheaper than other forms of entertainment.
We determined we spend only $ 3.60 an hour, which is cheaper than other forms of going out one could do such as bowling, movies, the fair, etc.

The track officials and security and cashiers were all helpful and friendly as well as the restaurant staff and the front entrance booth person. They pointed out betting procedures and were smiling and cheerful.

The signage was clear and well placed and restrooms were clean. The PA system is loud enough but sometimes you need to listen well as the crowd is loud over what he is saying.

You may bet inside the main building as well as outside near where they parade the horses and show them prerace. As well you may purchase beverages there and they have outside seating with umbrellas to shade yourself from the sun.

There are plenty of restaurants to choose from at Emerald Downs from barbecue to finer dining to Quick Picks cafe to the several bars with food available for purchase.

They have both an elevator and stairs and covered for rain and exposed areas.

Also available to get to by bus and taxi and UBER.

Great experience at iFly Seattle. I do have scoliosis but it wasn't a factor with flying. I made sure to stretch ahead of time and remain relaxed. That's the key is to "Relax!" The instructor was not only cute, but also informative and made sure my group had the best experience. I was able to do a lot on my first try. Make sure to hydrate as it is a lot of air and you will get dry mouth.

My sister lives on Angle Lake, so she walks her dogs here every day. As a visitor, I really enjoyed the view, the relative uncrowdedness, and the quiet. The park is pretty good sized and most dog-walkers are responsible and utilize the provided bags. The expansion trail currently under construction makes me excited to visit next time.

Des Moines Creek Trail

Reviewed By SEA2011 - Seattle, Washington

Nice, well maintained, paved walking trail along the Des Moines creek. Decided to go from the Des Moines marina to the university of washington via the light rail. Walked the trail from the marina to the Angle Lake light rail station. Walking the trail took about 40 min then another 15 min or so to get up the hill to the light rail station from the trail's end. Very do-able in the drizzle and would be quite nice in good weather. Trail is about 2 miles long, paved, well groomed and a little bit of elevation but not much. Quite a bit of elevation from the trail end to the light rail station but not bad.

Memorial is pretty impressive - fitting for a most impressive musician. But what really struck me were the notes, letters, and gifts left by fans from all over the US. Not sure how often the area is cleared/cleaned but during my visit, there were about a half dozen notes/letters, pizza box and beer bottles, and my favorite - a pair of panties. I think Jimi's memorial is more impressive than Bruce Lee's.

We went to the Showare Center to see an Everett Silvertips game. For $15 a ticket, the arena is a terrific place to spend an evening. This was the home ice of the Seattle Thunderbirds, so we were not in the majority, but people were nice to us. Concessions are reasonably priced and there are really no bad seats.
