This is our third trip to Alaska and we are glad we found Alaska Drift Away Fishing on our first trip, and we will certainly use them on future trips. This trip we fished for silver salmon with Jeremy and we caught our limit within a few hours and then spent some time trout fishing. The second fishing day with Nick was not a good weather day but he tried hard to find the fish for us. Both Jeremy and Nick are passionate about what they do and it shows every time we are with them. I do not routinely fish so I know I am probably a challenge for them but they are both patient and helpful. I would highly recommend these guys, no matter your level of fishing skill they will make sure you enjoy your time on the river. Thanks for another great fishing experience and we are already planning our next trip.

Holy Assumption of the Virgin Mary Church

The weather was awful, but I was still so impressed with this little church and the little Chapel of St. Nicholas. Only a few yards from the cliff and water, the history was palpable. While the gift shop was closed and the church was in session for worshipers, I could really enjoy the outside. What jubilant colors in such a harsh and isolated place. Today, it might be crowds with modern buildings, but I imagined what is was 100 years ago and WOW!. It's worth the stop if you are a history buff.

Kenai Beach

This beach offers great views of people fishing and the Kenai River.

Reviewed By conniegum - Hereford, AZ

I visited this beach after stopping by the nearby Visitor's center. Parking is at the end of the Spur highway. I walked down the stairs to the beach and then just walked along the beach for two miles before turning around. Few people were around. It was just the dogs and me. I walked past some unstable bluffs, washed-up debris, and dark rocks smoothened by the ocean. I could see distant snow-capped mountains.

This is a very dark-colored beach, meaning both the gritty sand and the rocks are like obsidian. It's not a beach one thinks of to lay down on and sunbathe. This is, afterall, Alaska and its marine layer along the Kenai coast.

I timed my visit to match with low tide, when eagles and seagulls flew overhead scanning the beach for a meal. That was the best part: watching the wildlife around me.

Crescent Lake

Scenic lake located in Alaska's Kenai Mountains offering a variety of outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, camping and hunting.

Reviewed By Jive T - Washington DC, District of Columbia

Beautiful setting, awesome cabin on the lake, crystal clear water, great fishing, amazing nature...rude, intrusive, condescending hikers/residents of Alaskans who were all too eager to repeatedly remind me about their firearms.
The trails are easy to navigate and very easy to travel--so much so that bikes are able to traverse with no hindrance.
Dead wood is plentiful for cutting/splitting.
Mountain goats are observed in the high peaks, as are bald eagles(charmingly referred to as "scavenging buzzards" by the same residents).
I wasn't disappointed with the land in any capacity, but I was very disappointed with the careless attitudes and absence/lack of environmental stewardship exhibited by the the people who live in such an incredible and unique location.
A reminder: if you don't have a permit for the cabin, but you see people at the cabin, well the people you see at the cabin typically have the permit and don't want visitors; therefore, be considerate and stay out of areas you do not belong--there are plentiful tent camp areas all around the lake.
