This is a massive yet well maintains fort in Bekal, Kasargod district.
Besides its historical significance, the Fort offers lovely views of the adjoining sea shore and is worth exploring from end to end. It should be noted that there are no large palaces or residential quarters within the Fort premises.
Spent a good 1.5-2 hours inside. There are few shops selling ice creams and cold drinks inside to quench thirsty throats as well

This is one of the Best kept secrets, Humanity blended well with nature to help make a connect between you & your calling. The idols are made by blending the Herbs with Jaggery & worshipped. Other Speciality of the place is a Crocodile that stays in the Temple lake & believed to survive by eating only the temple offering ( also known as Prasada). The Serenity of the place, silence that surrounds you at most of time through the day lets you calm your nerves & meditate, find your calling .

Shree Madanantheshwara Siddhivinayaka Temple, is a famous Hindu temple near Kasargod. At times there is some rush there unlike the Ananthapura temple. The 'appam' nivedyam there is famous.

A must visit when in Bekal, of historical and archaeological interest, covering 40 acres on a elevated ground with panoramic view of the sea lying below. A good two hours is required to walk around and feel the history of this fort built 300 years ago. The landscaped Gardens have beautiful flowers and plants. It's advisable to carry water bottles and sun shades to avoid getting sunburnt. There are stalls inside offering cool drinks and ice cream.

Ranipuram is located in Kasargod district of Kerala but can be easily approached from Coorg as well as South Canara. It is an extension of the beautiful mountain ranges of Brahmagiri. It takes about 2.5 -3 KMS trek to reach the peak from the base. The initial ascent is through forest but once the higher levels are reached, the beautiful Shola grassland arrives which offers exquisite views all around which is a feast to our eyes. The greenary during rainy season adds to its beauty. There is a huge rock on the peak around which much time is to be spent catching panoramic views. Comparitively, very less littering is found here which is great. There are shortcuts to Ranipuram from Panathur so enquire before going. Carry enough water and beware of leeches especially during monsoons. Overall, the best one day trek for beginners in Kasargod district.
