Visiting sites in Flinders Chase National Park was the highlight of our trip to Kangaroo Island, in my view it is a must visit! We saw the Remarkable rocks which are not only geologically remarkable, but also their location is incredibly remarkable. Weirs Cove were they landed the supplies for those manning and living at the Lighthouse. Also Cape du Couedic or Admirals Arch. All stunning, such rugged sites, amazing

We really enjoyed the raptor show. It was informative and entertaining, with a variety of birds. We were lucky enough to be invited to stay on at the end to watch Kyle training a dear little kestrel - and were even able to help him. The event was great value for $20 and one of the most enjoyable things I did on the island.

Admirals Arch

We visited as part of a day trip to KI and the walk to the “cave” is beautiful. Our day was sunny and quite windy which was refreshing after being on the bus. The walk is perhaps 1/2 mile round trip and the downhill is easy. The Southern Ocean is gorgeous here was various breakers creating sizable waves. Continue on the boardwalk down, don’t miss the seals sunning themselves on the rocks below, then take the turn and there is the “cave/arch” in all its glory! It is huge with the waves crashing into and around the cave. You feel the sea mist and breathe in as you watch mesmerized by this gorgeous place. A must do!

Kangaroo Island Spirits

South Australia's first boutique distillery, Kangaroo Island Spirits is producing award winning Gin and a number of liqueurs which utilise local and native ingredients. I really liked the whiskey barrel gin but felt it was over priced.
They do not seem to be able to cope with small groups arriving at the same time - we went twice and it was the same both time. You are greeted with 'we'll be with you soon' but they weren't. And then part way through your tasting they move to another customer and just leave you.

Pulling into car park all you see is beach with large rocks. On checking closely there is a sign pointing to beach. This entails a lovely short walk climbing thru the rocks and eventually coming out onto a large expanse of white sandy beach. This part of the walk is half the fun. Very safe swimming for families with young children. At end of car park is well maintained clean picnic shelter, well protected from sun and rain. If need to purchase picnic lunch great cafe also near car park.

The weather had turned very cool & windy and we copped it full blast down at the bottom of the walkway. There certainly were fewer sea lions there than when we had last visited but some of the young were very playful & you would not want to go to KI without going here.

The staff were knowledgeable and welcoming and clearly cared a great deal about their animals. The animals were in clean and spacious settings . There was even a good cappucino to be enjoyed ! We were there outside of school holidays and so we had the talk and cuddling session with the Koalas to ourselves. It was a special experience that we will all remember forever!

Pleased to have done this tour. Grateful that we were accommodated as although I'd booked it ahead I didn't check the dates we were offered which were wrong; however showing the receipt albeit for the wrong date was accepted - thanks. Yes we saw the KI "big 5" including a close encounter with an Echidna which didn't just curl up but inspected our feet. Hundreds of Roos and Wallabies; Possums and Koalas also. Tips - if you have headlamps bring them. If camping, the western KI campground is only 5 minutes away.

The view is amazing (as are the number of people taking photos of it!). It can be a bit cool on the balcony if it's windy so take a jacket. The food was fine, but if your'e a vegetarian your only options are a cheese plate or a dip plate (but this is not uncommon on KI - you can't assume there will be a vego option at places). The Mexican chicken pizza was yummy. The wines were...well...there's a reason KI is not known as an amazing wine region. I don't know if it's that it's not a great spot for growing grapes or if the winemakers just don't have the same experience in other parts of the state but we went to two wineries and both had only 1-2 wines that were worth drinking and the rest were very, very, very average. As I said...you go here for the view.

Kelly Hill Conservation Park and Caves

Reviewed By EFoley11

We really enjoyed our tour of the Kelly Hill Caves. Gemma was our guide and gave a highly informative and interesting talk on the caves and their history. There are very steep steps in and out of the cave so appropriate footwear is recommended. The cave has dim lighting to allow for some beautiful photos and ease moving around without the need for a torch. The reception centre is very isolated and does not sell food other than ice creams and soft drinks so you will need to bring your own food to eat while you wait for your tour.
