Kosi River

There is very little to do in Corbett National Park besides the regulation safaris into the jungle. Kosi river is a good, less frequently visited site, specially near the suspension bridge. One can click pictures of this old style bridge and trek down to the riverside for more pictures on the stones along the river bed. The view is picturesque.

Durga Devi Zone

Reviewed By 260richat - New Delhi, India

Well, to begin with, I would say to everyone visiting Jim Corbett National Park - This is a jungle and we are visiting as guests to this beautiful home of nature and its creatures. Stay amazed and keep looking out for things in awe and excitement, and you will never be disappointed, irrespective of, you spot a tiger or not. We chose the morning safari, however due to full slots, we ended up getting the afternoon slot (and we are not complaining). Kindly carry your sunglasses, caps/hats and drinking water as you are in a jungle and you cannot get down from the jeep while you are on your safari. Carry your cameras and phones very carefully and ensure they do not fall out of your hand or pockets as once again you are not allowed to get down at any cost while you are on your safari. Your driver/guide will be briefing you about these guidelines once you start the safari. It is suggested you wear earthy colours and not too bright clothes as these are distracting for the animals. Something that gets camouflaged easily with the background like greens, blacks and browns are ideal. Before you begin your safari from the zone gate there is a washroom if you wish to go. You will not get anything for the next 3 hours or so, so please ensure that you make your self comfortable and stay prepared for the journey ahead. A tip for the females - It is advised that you wear clothes in which you are able to get into the safari jeep easily. You may have to jump in and out, so something like shorts, jeans, capris, salwars etc are helpful. However, I wouldn't recommend wearing sarees or dresses as it will not be easy to climb the jeep in these sort of dresses. About this zone, it is immensely beautiful. Like straight coming out from a picture postcard. A beautiful trail, hills with dense jungle around, picturesque locations, river and an open jeep safari - these are enough to give you a good adrenaline rush while you are in this zone. And yes ! We were a group of 5 + our driver and we got lucky enough to spot a huge herd of elephants, sambhar deers, barking deers, spotted dears and A TIGER :-)) Yes, we got lucky ! Now again, this was merely luck. We sensed the movement of a tiger in one area as our driver informed and we kept waiting in that area for about 25 mins in a hope to look out for a tiger. However, we didn't spot one there. And after waiting for so long, our driver suggested that we must move on as we were nearing the closing time. And we left that place. And just 5 mins of drive from that place, we spotted a tiger right next to us on our driving trail. So close and so clear. And it was super exciting ! We just simply got lucky ! And please keep the area clean and do not litter trash around while you are in the jungle. Be a responsible guest :-) Happy Safari to all !
