King Fahd's Fountain

This 853-foot fountain is reputed to be the tallest fountain in the world, and is best appreciated when illuminated at night.

Reviewed By jojiec141 - Jeddah, Saudi Arabia

The fountain was donated to the city of Jeddah by King Fahd, hence its name. It was constructed between 1980 and 1983 and was launched in 1985.[2] Located on the west coast of Saudi Arabia, the fountain jets water to a maximum height, according to different sources, of either 260 metres (853 ft)[3][4][5]or 312 m (1,024 ft)[1] above the Red Sea. Whichever figure is considered the actual height for the fountain, it is the world's tallest. The second-tallest is the World Cup Fountain in Seoul, South Korea, with a water height of 202 m (663 ft). The fountain is visible throughout the vicinity of Jeddah. The water ejected can reach a speed of 375 km/h (233 mph) and its airborne mass can exceed 16 tonnes (18 short tons).[1] The fountain uses saltwater taken from the Red Sea instead of freshwater. Over 500 spotlights illuminate the fountain at night.

Al Rahma Mosque

This beautiful white mosque seems to emerge from the sea.

If you are visiting this region you will see many mosques , and very beautiful ones. Among all those, the floating mosque looks unique as it stands on water but trust me that is not the best part. You will experience the best part only when you offer a prayer specially in the open area of the mosque. The experience is mesmerising and divine .

Fakieh Aquarium

Reviewed By tarabahlmann - Dhahran, Saudi Arabia

We like to avoid crowds so we commenced our visit at 1pm. Parking at the Aquarium's garage is readily available at that time (attached to the Southside of the Aquarium) and there are no lines to purchase tickets or to enter the main building. The aquariums in the building are beautiful and modern. Our children enjoyed the tour - we traveled at their pace (the visit finished in 1 hour). There is a quirky toy store / candy shop 2/3rds through the tour which received 5 stars from the children (the candy swayed the vote). Fakieh Aquarium is clean and the path through the museum intuitive. The Aquarium is well managed. We have visited several times and gladly will do so again. The Blue Ocean Restaurant at the Aquarium serves fresh seafood. At the end of a visit to the Aquarium, the restaurant is good place to rest your feet. The meals and service are top notch - as good as any restaurant we visited during our week long tour of this Region of Saudi Arabia.
