Cascade Falls

My wife and I took several of our friends to the Cascade Falls. It was a pleasant and relaxing evening watch the falls change colors. My only comment was I did not care for the music. They have a snack bar with good prices and a small gift shop. Well worth visiting.

Sandhill Crane Vineyards

Sandhill Crane Vineyards is a small family-owned winery and cafe located in eastern Jackson county. Our award-winning wines are made with only local grapes and other fruits. The new cafe features soups, salads, sandwiches, and desserts made with locally sourced ingredients. For groups of 8 or more we ask that you give us a courtesy call at least 24 hours in advance and plan on arriving before 4:30 pm on the day of your visit. That will allow us to make sure that we have adequate tasting room staff on hand and reserve one or more tables for your group. Thanks!

A group of us (all women) visited the vineyard for wine tasting and lunch. The staff is amazing! The lady who provided the wine for tasting delivered our choices to the outside deck for us. The setting was lovely and the lunch was very fresh...MoreWe're so happy you enjoyed your visit with us! Thanks so much for the lovely review. We hope to see you again sometime soon. Cheers!

Cell Block 7

I visited this place on "Museum Day". This event (Sept 16, 2017) allowed visitors to visit 11 area attractions for free.

I've always been curious what it is like inside Michigan's other "Big House". (I've been to the football "Big House" in Ann Arbor).

The size and scale of this prison is impressive. Read all of the displays and learn what it is like to be a permanent resident. It will change your way of thinking about the Michigan Penal System.

As other reviewers have mentioned... DON'T BRING A CELLPHONE or CAMERA. Be sure to read all of the restrictions posted on the Cell Block Seven website... you don't want to become a permanent resident, do you?

Ella Sharp Museum

Reviewed By SuzanneetRon - Boyne City, Michigan

We love to take out-of-towners to Ella Sharp Museum and grounds. The exhibits on Jackson throughout the years (early times, Civil War, World Wars) are great, but the car is the best (I want one). The clock rooms are masterful. What we really love (besides all of this) is the house tour. The young man guide we have had several times really knows how to please his audience and give a great tour. Then we go to the park for a picnic. What a great day!

This winery gives a brief, interesting and well-informed tour of wine making. The owner is a pilot for Delta and has acquired a taste for French wine...he has a great wine maker onsite...the service and explanations are very good. My grandpa (97 years old) and I each tried the $17, 7 wine sampler. It was great! We both enjoyed it much more than we thought we would....

I love the Jackson Antique Mall! The merchandise is always different and deals are to be found! The history of the building is interesting (ask the ladies). If you are looking for items they will help you and if it's not at the store they can sometimes connect you with a dealer. I have antiqued all over and this is always my favorite.

Antique Mercantile

Although dusty, dark antique shops can be intriguing, Antique Mercantile leaves the dust behind and ups the level of intrigue! A bright, airy space clustered with multiple vendor spaces. Two stories of treasure hunting in a lovely historical Jackson building...with nice bathrooms (always a plus...). My visits here are limited - because I always uncover something new and buy something amazing! Grab a coffee and stop in for a lovely morning or afternoon of antique browsing (and buying).
