The 10 Best Things to do in Isola di Sant Antioco, Sardinia

September 27, 2021 Jasper Kershner

Lovely beaches, panoramic views and mouthwatering meals are waiting for you on Sant’Antioco, the second-largest island of the Sardinian region. In the island’s main village, also called Sant’Antioco, explore haunting but beautiful historic sites such as the ancient stone catacombs beneath the central basilica. The cobblestone piazza's geometric patterns are a striking contrast to the surrounding salmon-colored provincial buildings.

Our visit happened on a rainy day, and we were not expecting an exciting visit from the museum located in this quiet corner of Sardegna - wow! We were confronted with a very friendly guide, and an involving story of ancient cultures and their open attitude towards each other. We discovered many interesting details of the life lead hundreds of years b.C. and left our visit inspired and happy - definitely a must-see for anyone who is travelling in this area of Sardegna! Small bonus: there is a very friendly cat who follows around along with the guided tour, and who enjoys cuddles. Thank you to the attentive and welcoming staff of the museum!

Having driven around the island of Sant'Antioco, this is our favourite beach on the island. Clean, clear and shallow waters - great for families with young children - plus free of seaweed and jellyfish. Great spot just to chill and enjoy the sun.
