This place is a feather in the cap of Hopkinsville. From the moment we pulled up, we were greeted with a warm welcome and an invitation into the shop/tasting room to try about 7 varieties of moonshine and moonaritas. The peach/apple/grape flavored moonshine samples were more my style... the brown moonshine was smooth and the clear moonshine had me sweating :-)
After the tasting, we joined up with some other couples and the grandson of the original Casey Jones distiller, AJ, showed us around the operation, including a look at THE still, the barrels, and the very hands-on bottling process. Very cool tour, especially coming from the distillery family namesake. The grounds are gorgeous, too. Would love to come back on a cool summer day and listen to some music on the back porch.
We also ordered some drinks from the bar. Nice and strong. Definitely add a shot of moonshine on top of the moonarita.
For as fun and relaxing as the afternoon at Casey Jones was, my favorite part was all the smells :-)
If you’re in hoptown, you should definitely make sure you make a visit to the distillery. Nice people, gorgeous area, and the booze puts it over the top.

The owner griffin is a very talented artist and teacher. She hosts public and private painting parties for all ages. Great local gifts as well as unique furniture and original artwork. Jewelry in all price ranges. Her partners have a unique eye for home decor that is sure to make anyone happy. They maintain a wonderful gift registry and have creative children's toys, art supplies and baby items. A must visit. Highly recommend!

While making a visit to the famed PowWow in that area, we took a few moments to visit the park, the burial site of Cherokee Chiefs Fly Smith and Whitepath, and stepped inside the Heritage Center to learn more about the history of this difficult relocation. Lucky for us, the burial site gate had been unlocked for visitation (as is done during the PowWow weekend) and we were able to spend a few sacred moments in this peaceful setting. Following the path to the Heritage center, occasional info boards were present to offer up details as the journey continued. Unfortunately, the visit to the Heritage Center was less than comfortable. On the porch, a large family had taken over (presumably visiting for the PowWow festivities), smoking cigarettes and being generally loud and boisterous. The building is perfectly acceptable with its rustic materials and smaller doors, however, it appears to need a lot of cleaning and general maintenance. There were stacks of boxes that may have needed to go into storage, more boxes of to-go restaurant food lying around in the room on the right side, as though several people had eaten their lunch in the room and hadn’t finished, but just left everything out and open. The area was cluttered, musty, and dirty, and although someone was working that day, we didn’t feel welcome or comfortable to browse and read the info and see the artifacts, giving them the proper reverence and respect we feel they should have. Sadly, this was our final taste of the place, as we walked out with no one even acknowledging we were there, and made our way through the smoky cigarette porch again. We are glad we came once, to have that quiet time at the burial site. However, it’s not on our list to make the trip again. We hope that someone who can make some positive changes is able to read this and look deeper with an objective eye and heart. If they did, I’m sure they would see what we did… that this is a sacred history, and can be shared in a much more effective way.

This place is sort of "hidden away" in the middle of farm country KY, but that is part of its appeal. Quiet, peaceful... beautiful! The mini golf is a fairly recent addition and it is a VERY nice one. The most popular and fun time to go is sometime in October for pumpkin picking. They have pumpkin patches as far as the eye can see, hayrides to take you there, and corn mazes to get lost in along the way. There are also hay bale castles and a playground for the little ones to play on. The gift shop is also full of quaint and beautifully simple crafts, many with Christian themes. The best time to go is one weekday evening when there are less crowds and you can have the whole place practically to yourself!

We had company in town and we're looking for something fun and cool. We drove from Clarksville. Which is about thirty minutes away.
When we arrived there was a long line. We waited awhile due to park having to clean up an accident in one of the pools.
After waiting awhile they came over the intercom and announced they were closing for the day due to two bathroom issues in the pools.
I appreciate their effort to keep families safe and clean, but was pretty disappointed to have brought company and wasted the drive.
The next time we try to go I will probably call first to ensure I don't waste the drive or have disappointed children.

This is a local microbrewery recently opened. The beers are currently unfiltered which may dissuade some potential customers. They have a way to go before competing with major brewery (think Budweiser) bottled beer. If you go, go for the ambience, the local flavor, and the uniqueness, not for great microbrewery beer.

Sixth Street is a historic area with antique brick buildings that are home to two boutiques, an antique store, an art gallery and art store and a nice little restaurant. The street is directly across from the old courthouse.

Lovely, historic buildings. You can spend hours walking around downtown and enjoying the buildings in the whole area! Several unique Victorian buildings with Queen Anne windows, leaded glass and beveled leaded glass, decorative barge board, etc. Many shops on this street and the whole area. We were in town for the Total Solar Eclipse! :D Thoroughly enjoyed the sights and the friendly, polite people! :D

In addition to beautiful oil, watercolors, etc. there was beautiful local photography. I loved the wooden cutting boards that were too pretty to cut on. Lots of inexpensive, nice jewelry by Tanya Ezell, gorgeous pottery by Trisha Ferrell. Linda Pierce and Jeannie White were some of my favorite artists..postcards (hard to find these days). Photography of local historic buildings, the lakes and the state parks. The Bozards wooden pieces were so cute and very affordable. There were glass lamps and etched glass. Just lots of variety. There's a great place to eat next door, an old hardware store with EVERYTHING! and Griffins with upscale and unusual gifts and art. I could spend the whole day on that street.
